Jon And Sheri's Vitamin D Wagon

Jon, do you still need any foam padding for the roll bars?

I run a foam fabrication shop and have CNC cutting capability. Which means I can cut anysize inside diameter with anysize outside diameter. You could even go with a round inside hole for the roll bar tubing with a square outside. Its all open cell flexible foam, so not the closed cell waterproof stuff. With that said i'm sure it would work fine and I carry 4 different charcoal colored grades.

Let me know if you are interested.

EDIT: here are some examples

Well, the seal is not leaking, but did I put it in backwards or not?

Thanks--
I have all the present bars padded now, however there will be some more added so I will be contacting you.

If that seal has two sealing edges like most, the spring would best be on the inner sealing edge. The outer seal would be a dust seal, and the inner mainly to keep in the grease. Recall that's how the front CV axle seals are, the spring is inboard and can be accidentally popped out while installing it.

Ok, thanks Don. I guess I need to go re do that seal then. Good thing I bought 2 ( I found them for 6 bux each)

Anyway-on a side note.

I have come to a painful realization of late.

Although I like the off roading experience, it just isn't for me physically. It's just too much work I cannot do. If this thing broke on the trail I would be screwed. The act of loading unoading tools and parts has to be done by someone, I usually recruit my son for this but that cannot go on.

I think at this point I will do what I can to help others build their stuff and sit back to watch the carnage.

If we can do the occasional trip to Colorado at this point I will feel satisfied. That was the original intent for this truck.

Rookieshooter has been my main motivation for the last 5 years or so. We compared some xrays back then, and I remember saying to myself " that boy is all messed up"

I still don't know how he does it but I do know this, I do not want to play anymore. :D

Iz is still my inspiration

I'm sorry to hear that it is still so hard for you. I whine about little things but I'm still grateful to be able to move around fully.

I'd leave that seal in there unless it does leak or you have another reason to pull the pinion nut. The difference between those two lip seals isn't that much, to swap them.

Enjoy driving the truck as much as you can, think of the thousands of people who build them to look that way, and never go off road. Take the occasional trip to go see the good friends you have on the forums etc. Regards,

Jon you need to start going with me. Takes me week to get ready for a trip. To load up that is. And some help with the heavy stuff from the boys. You have a 4 dr. so you just make a nice bed to sleep in back there. Pack a food box and ice chest. A cook stove and your pretty much set. Just drive out to Colorado or Utah. Find a camp site and park. http://www.4wdandsportutility.com/a...sazi_in_beef_basin_canyonolands/photo_33.html Pull out a chair or just set in your truck with the window down. When you get hungry make something to eat. When you want to stop, stop. When you want to go, go. Build a fire if you like or not. Go to sleep when you want. Get up when you want. No check out or check in times. No reservations. No walking and unloading or loading stuff in the truck. Most activity I get is when I have to go to town for fuel and supplies. And a shower ever so often.

I have a Sport and a BII. It's more difficult for me to climb in the back of them to sleep than to use a tent. I have a extra seat for May if you'd like to come out. I've driven most of what we are doing before and you'd be welcome to drive as much as you want.

We can talk tomorrow about it if you like.

We'd need a week to compare old abuses of our bodies I think. We need to save that for when were on the porch in our rocking chairs. That is if I make it to then.

Sooooooo JON

How is the winter driving going? I know its cold and that is what is keeping me from driving the explorer now. Did the top keep out that much wind?

Well, the front seats stay toasty. The top keeps out all wind, however it isn't a good insulator. I also have some drafts coming in the doors, cold air comes in around the inner handle.

We recently had Cybergasm in the back seat for a good 4 hour round trip, and it was in the 20's. I don't think he was all that comfy back there, being from So Cal and all that---:D
Matt said it was fine though

I think a blanket hung from the bars to divide the passenger compartment from the hatch area would help. Due to the spare tire I mainly use the side mirrors anyway.

Good Good

I have an idea and that is what i wanted to hear. I am not putting on the doors ever however that presents a problem with cold, water, ect. There is a place that will potentially make me doors that will zip on and off. I just need to explain the idea and see if they can make this work.

Cyber is going to have to get over this cold stuff. When i was at thaven they were freezing and it was only in the 50s wearing there jackets and pants. pft lol

So you will be sitting in first class while everyone else will be in coach:D

What about a thick 10-20mm clear vinyl shower curtain? Just cut it up and install grommets in it to zip tie to the roll cage tubes. Super duper cheap, see thru, and will provide some needed insulation.

That's a good idear

Just something to cut the heated space.

Uh huh welp to clarify things here.

1) Matt is in Eskimo then :p: ( or maybe he was fine cause i noticed him sitting away from the door)
2) I was fine for the except for the draft coming in through the inner door handle on the Right rear door which froze me from knee to hip on my right side.

3) overall it was not bad back there, Guess i was comfy enough that i fell asleep back there on the way home.

That is all carry on :salute:

Just for kicks and because I was bored for a minute I re installed the larger Granatelli MAF sensor.
I want to say I notice the power difference but it may be just the sound difference. What the heck, I'll try it again.
