Keeper's Explorer. Take two.

Welcome to my new registry. This is my 2000 Explorer XLT. Bought it from the original owner for $3,400. Came with the owners manual, and the paper work to prove it's been dealer maintained. When I purchased the Ex, it had 111,000 on the odometer, a small tear in the leather of the drivers seat, some sand in the back( take it the guy was a surfer, found a few surf board fins in the jack storage area). Gonna do a alignment when I get the chance, and start transferring all my mods from my Sport into this.

As she stands when I brought her home.

That turned out nice! Didn't look too hard to do either.

That console cover turned out awesome! How did you get the leather to stay? Glue? Staples? Magic?:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Combination of duct tape (makes the world go round) and staples. Much frustration was had with my staple gun.

For Sport97: The color is pretty close, the shadie is a bit lighter I think, but it's better looking then the tears.

Thanks guys.

Nice work Keeper!

I think it looks lighter compared to the rest of the interior because it's new- no dirt or anything on it. My gray lightened up a shade after I cleaned it, you know- like I do... :D

First of all, thank you Joe, and everyone else.

Maybe so, I compared the leather from the parts that didn't see any sun light of use. And I think the Cali sun reeks havoc on interiors and paint. Parts of my Sport's interior were bleached nearly white.

All I can say is I enjoy working on my truck. Can't wait to get the lift done, and take her out. Hopefully to T-haven.

If you're really in love, you can get interior matched spraycans from Latemodel Restoration Supply... :)

BSlusser, lets go boardin sometime. I live in san clemente, but go to bear and high every week. btw, name on mt high forum is special blend joe

Oh for sure, I didn't think I'd see anyone from that forum here lol. Sounds good, what freeways do you normally take/days do you normally ride? I can only really go on Sundays right now but next semester I'll probably ride Tuesdays as well.

I may go get a chunk of leather from a color matching explorer seat from a junkyard and try and make out of that.

That's actually a really good idea. I've done the console lid replacement on the last Ex and I wanted to use real leather, ended up using black vinyl. Definitely gonna look into that this time around

Can't wait to get the lift done, and take her out. Hopefully to T-haven.

What lift(s) are you going with?

I take the 91 to the 15

For sure, well I'm a bit north of you so the only way it would make sense to carpool is if you wanted to roll up here and hop in our convoy, you'd have to take the 5 to the 57 I think...

I was looking into that before I wrecked my Sport.

I have a set of Warrior-153's I need to put on and TT to match the front.

Jager and BSlusser, I ask if you guys aren't going to post something relevant to my Ex, or Ex's in general could you not post it in here? PM's are a wonderful thing. Thanks guys.

Fersure, my bad

Nice. Any plans after that?

Thanks man.

Update on what I've put on my Christmas list for the Ex:
  • A set of Hella 500's
  • Tow straps
  • A good set of drill bits for metals
  • A good floor jack
  • Jack stands

A good set of drill bits for metals

...You can't beat these at Harbor Freight $15 or under $10 when on sale...;)

Cleaned MAF, airbox, IAC, and throttle body. Feels a bit smoother. Hopefully the combination of new plugs and wires and all the freshly cleaned parts will help with my fuel economy.

It should... Truck should run much nicer now with new plugs and wires, no?

Indeed. When I was pulling one of the old wires off it came apart. I take it as a sign they needed changing. Today after work I'm going to pull the bottom of the air box out and drill some extra ventilation hole in it. This is only a temporary measure, once I get some time to go down to my parents house and pull the CAI off my Sport, that'll go on it, along with the 70mm TB.
