Let's see, what can I powdercoat today?

Jon,
Had trouble going thru all the 57+ pages here. I think I need new calipers for my other SUV. Is it worth powdercoating them and could you PM me a price? Some kind of graphite grey would be fine. Thanks!

I honestly have not been too eager to powder coat brake calipers for safety and well being reasons. I worry too much I guess.

The pistons should really come out of them, and replace the seals afterwords. That's the only good way to do calipers.

10/4 its for my Pathfinder (let the hating begin) which is my Daily Driver (was til I can get brake thing worked out). Sounds like more trouble than it is worth. Always appreciate info from you and Don!! Back to driving the Ex right now, been in the garage for 4 months.

Turdle, I think your missing out on some business here. Check out what these guys are getting for a powder coated rebuilt caliper. NHT Breaks
No liability on your part, most of the guys around this forum can rebuild a break caliper drunk, in the dark with one had. :D You just coat the empty shell and send it back. Powder coating is the way to go on break calipers. The high temp paints dont hold up. It may not burn off, but every time Ive tried it they lose there gloss and fade to a crappy color from the heat.

Bob has a point, if you only accept stripped calipers the owner has to either rebuild them or have it done by someone who knows how. Hmmm, I'm sure if I asked it, my bike would like it's calipers powder coated a nice satin black...

I'm not normally a nitpicker when it comes to spelling, but you do know it's spelled "brake/brakes", right? Breaking your truck is completely different than braking your truck. :D

Back to the topic at hand, I can't rebuild brakes sober, but I do like the look of powercoated calipers. I'd be all over that.

In my defense, I was educated in Chicago public schools. So it is amazing I can even form a sentence. :D

LOL, I think you're English and grammar is excellent. I know some people throw their posts through a spell checker before they post. I thought maybe you had a spell checker gone bad.

On the subject of spell checkers, I used to be able to spell on my own before I became dependent on them. :(

hahaha he has an excuse tho, He's canadian :D

Pathfinder... is that a Datsun or something?

YES its a something like that.... Made in Japan. Quality has been really decent in its defense. When I was a kid Made in Japan meant junk. Now Made in China takes that status. Funny part is, I am having trouble finding a rotor not made in China.

Anyway, Bob-nothing wrong with Chitown Schools. I wish I would have learned how to rebuild a caliper though.....

Getting way off topic of powdercoating though!!

The Ford calipers are pretty straight forward. I always rebuild them when I do my breaks. There are a couple of tools you should have to do a nice job.

A nice Bearing Race & Seal Driver driver set should be in everyone's tool box.

And a Cylinder Hone to clean it up nice.

Next time I rebuild one Ill take some pictures and start a thread.

Now can we pleas give Turdle his thread back?

I never put up pics last summer of my Street Scenes Speed Grille, powdercoated "Smoked Chrome" by Jon during my visit to Humboldt last summer. The grille shell is actually from a '96 and some accents and the crossbar on the grille are painted to sort of match the grille (OEM '96 is a lighter silver/gray with a black crossbar). The logo is a billet version I found in a bargain bin in Wisconsin last summer.

Also showing off the EE airdam I recently scored from IamTodd, freshly painted after I discovered Duplicolor is FINALLY carrying Amazon Green (code SU) in a spray. :)

Here are some parts for Toypaseo.

Upper strut mounts and a couple of Ford Tow Hooks

Threads of hardware is still taped off in the pics
