New Wheels and Tires

Hey All, I am currently deployed in Afghanistan so bare with me for a bit cuz I want to ensure I ordering the right stuff before I get home next week.

I just ordered the BTF Spacer kit (thanks Brandon, great service) and they are sitting in my buddy's garage for install.

I plan to install new wheels and tires. Going with ProComps all the way around, wheels and tires.

Here is the wheel I want to order, my question is: is this the correct backspace and offset to ensure no rubbing with the new 265/75/r16 ProComp Extreme ATs.

Part Number: PXA8069-6865
16x8, 5 on 4.5 Bolt Pattern
Backspace = 4 in.
Max Load = 2200lbs
Finish = Gloss Black
Hub Centric = No
Offset = -11mm

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I just need to know if the wheel is the right one all the way around and if I need more or less backspace. I would like to keep the wheel under the well, maybe stick out no more than a half inch.

I have seen a good pict of a truck on here with 265/75/r16 with 16x8, 0 offset and 4.50 backspace..is this about the same as my set-up I am looking to buy.

Thank you so much.

My rims have 4.5" backspacing with that size tire and rim and they stick out a little bit, so I think with 4" backspacing that will give you the look you want.

Also, i think the spacer lift effectively brings your wheels and tires a little more inboard so that should also help.

Stay safe over there and safe travels back. :salute:

Be sure to post pics when you finish the install!

Thank you so much for your "safe travel wishes" I really appreciate it.

With that said, do you have a side :yelexp:aspect shot of your rig you can post....looks like a nice set up, what lift are you running, etc...

I am running a 1.5" body lift with 265/75/16 tires and 16x8 wheels. It doesn't look like a lot of lift in the pic with the 265's on but its definitely noticeable in person. I have a 2.25"/2" spacer lift that I am looking at installing hopefully by the end of the year. I will probably do my Aussie Locker install first though. Maybe I'll do both at the same time.

How exactly do rear shackles work for lifting? How r they installed? I am buying some front 2" spacers and need rear lifting and have decided to use the shackles if i can do it myself.

they're SO easy to install. theres a few threads floating around here with good installation instructions, just use the search. its basically just 2 bolts for each.

They are longer than your stock ones, making the distance between the rear of the leaf spring and the frame greater, therefore lifting the suspension.

I just saw a picture of a really lifted rear end ex with shackles and they look reallllyy hard to put in lol. They dont look like they would only lift two inches.....

can you put the picture up here?

Crap must have entered it wrong. Anyway its not a big deal. Ive decided to get the shackles and front coil spring spacers. I figure maybe a body lift in the future.

I think you'll find that they really are pretty easy to do :thumbsup:

Ronin8002, Thanks for the pictures buddy.......helped me make a decision on the tire and wheel set up for my Ex.... Ordered them today and they will go on with my BTF lift in about two weeks when I get home from deployment. I went with the ProComp 16x8, 0 offset and 4.5 backspace with 265/75r16 ProComp Extreme AT.....

I'll post before and after picts when i get it up and running...

Thanks again

Some ppl on rangerstation are saying only a 2" lift, it will make the tires rub if going bigger than 31" tires. Where can i find pix of expolrers with these different tire sizes/lifts? Say, 2" lift with 31's, etc....

Thanx !!! This is a great list guys !! I AM glad I read it first ! I'm still going to put a small lift under the '96 and go with 31x10.5x15's just to fit in the garage though...

MAYBE contemplating upgrading my wheel size to 15x8's. What is the backspacing I'd need for the 2" lift? Will any 15x8 wheel work that has our lug pattern? If this isn't feasible, I'm going to just keep my stockers and put the 31x10.5x15's on.

has anyone tried 31" on an EB without lift? will it clear the fenders?

Depends on the vehicle I think. Depends on how badly the rear leaf springs are sagging I think too.
