"1-2 inch suspension lift- 31x10.50x15 - 32x11.50x15 on 15x8 rims/ may require some extensive fender trimming" ok so how would i go about rasing the back, the best way possible? all i would need is spring spacers in front right? with spacers, does it make ride quality that much worse? I dont want to trim..so Im going to cut it as close as possible..i prefer to go with 32x11.5..ideally i want to get 15x8 for this. Over all i want 32x11.5 or 32x12.5..dont offroad very much anyways, but i love the agressive stance. What my easiest/cheapest way to accomplish this? Yes i have read most of the posts on here so please dont slaughter me, lol.

"2 inch body lift and 1-2 inch suspension lift – 32x11.50x15 – 33x12.50x15 on 15x8 rim/ may require fender trimming"

OK, what about a 33x12.50r15 on a 15x10 rim? Better or worse for fit?

ah.... crap.

*Thanks though.

cool thanks for this thread guys and gals i am getting a 91 explorer tomorrow and have 31's already to put on it so i am guessing they are gonna fit with slight to moderate rubbing till i get the lift installed :D

Welcome to the site, you should be ready to roll!

GEN 3 X's (2002 - 2004)

Great chart on page 1, but nothing for the third generation explorers. Anyone have any info on max tire size without modification or lift.

KW Suspensions is coming out with a 2.5" lift for the new X's with independant rear suspension. Should be out by months end.

I'm still curious about max tire size without mod!

I noticed that the list stops at '01. Do these specs. not work for an '02 or or newer model? I have some concerns about this as I have been told I can't do it(bigger wheels and tires) due to ABS sensors. Something about throwing the sensors and computers all out of whack. Do you or anyone else know anything about this? I could really use the help. I'm not lifting just going to a bigger size tire (and wheel) than what is stock. The stock tires and wheels are *&%$#!!!!!

01 - 03 X's Tire Size

I just had the following installed on my 03 XLT: A set of American Racing Outlaw II 16 x 8 wheels and Toyo Open Country A/T's 265/70 R16. These fit with absolutely no rubbing. I may cut a small portion of the front splash shields out just for safety sake, but it is not required. These wheels and tires give my rig a very aggressive look without a lift. I will post some pics as soon as I can.

Sweet! This will be the first new X that I've seen with offroad tires and wheels i think. Post em when you get em.

I'm taking off work tomorrow and will post the pics. I had the tires and wheels installed on my lunch break. I am giddy right now. I work on the seventh floor of an office building and I can see my truck in the parking lot from the corner window. I want to leave right now and take the pictures.

I say go do it. But thats just me.:D

I cant figure out how to post the pics. If anyone wants to see them, just post your e-mail address and I will forward them to you. Sorry for the inconvenience.

confusion...

There seems to be quite a bit of back and forth from various sources about tire size. I am wondering if anybody is currently running 32x10.5 on a stock 91-94. If so, what problems did you have if any? What trimming was necessary. I am thinking of getting BFG AT KO in either 31x9.5 or 32x 10.5 but need to have a better idea of fit.

Thanks for the help.

Mike

youre not gonna fit the 32's and there may be a chance of you fitting the 31's without trimming

From experience, 31x10.5 fit without a problem on my 92.
I dont know of anyone running a 32x10.5 on a stock explorer. I would think it would fit, but your upward travel of the tire will hit the top of the fenders much easier over bumps. This may include driveway entrences so that should tell you how much room you would have. The tire will probably also rub at full turn. I know my 31s only rubbed in the front when my wheels were turned the whole way and i was going over something at least somewhat large.

Hope this helps.
