My new black/clear tails(2000)

I got my new tails yesterday. I was happy to see that they came with red bulbs....so I went ahead and installed them before my LEDs came in. I was very disappointed when I found out that my red bulbs are more orange than red. So I went to Autozone to look for some cheap LEDs when I came across the little light condoms. Putting the red cover on the already red tinted bulb actually works pretty good. I am waiting on my 27 LED red bulbs to get here THey will look alot better with all LED lighting.

THe only problem I came across installing these is that the passengers side blinker hole was keyed wrong. The bulb socket makes a 90, and the way they were keyed, the tails wouldnt go on the truck. So I trimmed a little off of the smaller keyway with a raxor blade and flipped it.

Before anyone says that they aren't legal... I KNOW. I will be adding some red reflectors to my hitch as a temp until I get my bumper build. My new bumper will have some 18wheeler oval LED tails on it that are also reflective, and smaller amber ones on the sides.

Oh, and I forgot to mention.... I got these from Ebay. The username of the seller is in the first picture. They were right at $100 shipped though.

I think these are street legal in Canada Are you gonna tint your new tails?

I got a set of high intesity reverse lights from EE. They work great, almost like small headlights, and the bulb looks better, smaller. JMO
They will look much better when the leds are in place, but they are pretty cool.

Not to steal your thread but I had these on and they're not to bad looking. They are the only ones I'd put on mine. But I'm really gonna looking into getting the ones above

I still have the tinted tails from my Sport and may sell them. They just don't look right on the Eddie. I'll try them again some other time and see if my tastes have changed. I may just do the "candy apple red" mod to the new tails and keep them untinted. It's too cold to do much in the way of any mods right now anyhow.

I got my bulbs today BUT they will not fit. They were listed as 3157 bulbs but they wont fit. These are the 27 LED capsule 3157 bulbs from eBay. DO NOT buy these because they will not fit. I got to reading the fine print on the auction and it says that these 3157 bulbs will not wit bulbs listed as 3157LL on the linked fitment chart--which is a Sylvania chart. To my knowledge all 3157 bulbs that Sylvania makes are LL(long life). ....unless there is a different kind of 3157 that I dont know about. These would work if the tab at the bottom was longer...the capsule part hits where the bulb normally snaps into before the tab is far enough in to hold the bulb. If you look at this picture (horrible phone pic) you see what the difference it. I will probably be modding these to work by adding material to the tab.

Those clear tails are the only clears I have ever liked... they look fantastic.

Todd... if you end up getting those would you be willing to sell me yours?

The only reason I bought these instead of making them is because of dual filament. I will be modding these fo fit though. I am making my reverse lights though And as soon as I get my clear corners in, I am gonna mod my stock ones to be full of LEDs.

No. They orgionally came from Spas, who gave them to me(couldn't sell them), and the one is slightly damaged. They're on ebay for $40.

Hi guys, I recently bought clear Tail lights for my 00Explorer sport...I went to my local Car shop and bought 2 x 3157 Led Lights... Everything goes fine when the lights are on, but as soon as I step on the brake.. my brake fuse blows... anyone have an idea?
They work fine when I put back regular 3157 bulbs.
