Nate's 2005 Explorer XLT 4X4

Very cool! Did you just keep it in 4hi?

What were you able to find out about that oil leak?

It snowed about 10-12 inches overnight. I got the Ex stuck twie, but I was asking for it both times. Creative thinking got me out. :p:
EDIT: It was in 4Hi the whole time. I found that keeping it on 4hi going down hill does even more braking (in 3rd-1st) than in just 2wd. I actually started sliding before I took those pictures I just threw it down in first and kept my cool and I survived :D
Nothing about the leak yet. Tomorrow morning its headed off to the shop.

Great driving mate, glad you've got the chance to take her to shop in the morning.

Truck looks amazing with the black headlights. Love it. Kickass job, dude.

...for a Patriots fan.:p:

Well I got the truck back within 5 hours. Oil Filter Adapter was the culprit, but the idiots replaced the whole unit so I payed for that too. I told them to only replace the O-ring. Should've fixed it myself... Well its fixed an I have yet to check if the underside is dry but im pretty sure it is.

Dont'cha just love the dealer? :D

I need to post up a few pics with all this new snow...

Nate,

I have to say- I like it better without the 4.0 emblem... Looks really nice and clean.

It's funny, now that there's no chrome for the 4.0 to bounce off, it does look wicked naked, Nate.

Thanks Jason, Joe, and Greg for the compliments on my Ex. I really like the grille without the 4.0 especially because the black out on the front with a chrome logo doesnt fit in.

An update on my future plans:
The future of this truck includes no lift kit instead 265-75-16 tires with a possible rancho quicklift. I've been reading too many bad things about going to a spacer kit. Once summer hits I think I will be doing some skid plate fabricating. Nothing major planned until then, but I'm sure I'll find something to do to the Ex.

I've been throwing the idea around in my head about incorporating a skid plate and winch mounting plate in the same unit, nothing definite just toying with it. I look forward to seeing you do your's mate, once summer roll's around.

I need to find the proper metal first. I want to keep it light weight and able to take damage without too much damage occurring. Most important things to protect are the gas tank, transmission oil cooler, radiator and oil pan. I know there are many other things that need protection but those are just a quick list.

I'm just looking at 1/4" from the trans cooler cross member all the way through to the bull bar/end of chassis. Maybe have a dozen 1/2" holes (2 rows of 6) drilled to provide air to cooler. Not past the thinking stage yet.

I'm still pondering how to do my set-up. I need to drill holes when I get to that point to keep the tranmission cooler cool.
I need to get the truck up on a lift to get some measurements as well as look at the mounting points. I have a pretty good idea on mounting points, but nothing on the dimensions or the material to be used.

Me mates a professional welder who's currently building my verander extension so I need to suss him out about the whole idea but access to the engine bay could be an issue for my plan but not the route you're going. I'll have to think about that.

A few new pics
