Nate's 2005 Explorer XLT 4X4

Sound's nice that '98, maybe post a few pic's when you get the chance? Hit me up if your still keen to sell the body lift, but it's going to take a month to come up with the dinero if that's cool? I've got more project's on currently than I can poke a bloody stick at!:D

Well whoever buys your truck will be lucky....you've got a nice ride.

I hope you buy another X and keep it in the family at least so we can still talk on the forums.

My 1.5" BL will be coming off tomorrow or next weekend (depends on some other projects I need to finish).

If you aren't buying it (understandably!) then I am sure there is *someone* around here who might be interested? lol :australia:shifty_ey:australia

Here's the 98 I'm currently thinking of:

19855521.jpg

Listed at: $2695.00. 5.0L V8, Automatic Transmission, Running Boards, 183K miles.

Not too bad of a price. I will be playing with the numbers when I go to buy, but Im not at the point of buying anything yet. I'm going to wait at least a month or two; I most likely will buy over the summer.

As for my explorer whoever buys it will get it with no TL guards, the old stock audio system will be reinstalled, and no bull bar. The bull bar and TL guards I will sell. If anyone is interested in those PM me and we can work on a price. I will list those for sale once my new SUV is bought.

Greg- Contact Ronin about the body lift blocks. Mine never showed up for some reason.

That looks like a garage kept Ex, Nate. The grille is clean, no water run-off by the hood edges on the chrome. Worth a look, probably a $2,000-$2,200 truck.

thats a nice 98 x u gonna buy it nate

Good luck in whatever you decide to do Nate.

P.S. I hope you buy another Ex so you will be around. ;)

Rondo; i probably will buy another Ex unless i get a bargain on a good Wrangler YJ. Even if i get a jeep i'll remain around here. There is a very small chance i'll keep the ex but the money from its sale is needed for college. It should pay for three or four semesters.

I've been searching some ads. Found a 97 mountaineer definately a fixer upper. The guy says the fog lights don't work...hmm...I wonder why :D

And here's another one. 96 4.0L OHV V6 204K miles $1600

The green one seems to be in good shape. Tan interior with leather seats. No rips on the seat. Clean inside and out. I have yet to look at any of these and I do prefer the V8, but the OHV V6 is an option as my 98 has a 4.0L OHV and it has been a strong engine.

Anyone have any thoughts on these. I need a few opinions on these explorers I am looking at. I've never looked at a 2nd gen before as the 98 was given.

Go the V8 Nate, you know you'd kick yourself if you got another 4.0. Just keep an eye out for a low milage rig. Your not in a hurry so look for a well maintained low milage truck that was only driven to church on sunday's by a little old lady. Don't rush it mate and you'll find a pearler soon enough!

I had a smart moment. I already have a 98 explorer and I could always sell that and keep the third gen. ;) That'd pay for some college.

Some new photos

Great pics as usual Nate.

Very nice pics, Nate.

I agree on not hurrying- the best way to buy a car is when you don't need to, as in "Oh crap, I need a car NOW" sort of thing. That only makes you settle. Once you find one that you really really like, it will work out much better if you can look at your leisure.

Next Project:
I figure with my larger tires (when I get them), the spare, will hang too low underneath. Solution: Design and build a tire carrier that will fit in the factory hitch 1 1/4" or 2". I'm hoping to make it so it will swing out of the way of the tailgate. I will probably start work on this next month (April). Anyone who is interested; I will share the plans once I finish my tire carrier. I will use 3/16" steel and a Jeep Tire Carrier. It shall be fun doing this project :)

Wicked project mate. If you can, see if you can keep a 2" receiver on the back so you can mount one of these for a rear recovery point. Makes life abit easier if your out with your mates and someone get's stuck.

Nate, sounds like a cool project! Maybe you can use this thread for inspiration: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=311088

Lynchy, that thing is cool but I'm more interested in what you have built your deck around

Well guy's just to let you know, it's an air conditioner, just a split system jobby. The section of decking and frame in front of it is built so it can be removed for any maintenence/repair's by undoing 4 bolt's. I'm going to build a frame around it and use the left over decking wood to cover it. Should make a nice place for a few pot plants and a place for people to tie up their shoelaces (japanese rules at my place, keeps my floorboards in good nic!)
