Wow I drove another 5.0 v8 today and holy sh*t! That thing sounds amazing stock. One of those with a lift would be awesome, but they all seem to be over priced. I'm going to try to talk down a SOHC V6 owner from $3000 to $2000ish or lower. The timing cassette in the rear is broken and thats a $2500 fix. So far here's the best 2nd gen Ive found (SOHC V6). 2 Power, leather seats; clean inside and out, new tires, little rust, good suspension, etc, etc.
So I'm probably going to go with a grand cherokee after driving a few 2nd gen explorers I have come to the conclusion that I don't fit into 2nd gens very well. Today I looked at 2 Lifted Grand Cherokees and I fit in those very nice, plenty of leg room and headroom.
What year are those j***s you're looking at Nate? It was the lack of head/leg room in the later model's that pushed me toward's my 3rd gen in the first place. I liked the old wagoneer but then you start thinking IH scout and invariably end up with a Bronco! The hemi is a bonus tho'!
Well either way the 3rd gen is going. It will be sold or my dad may get it and drive it for a few years. Possibly may go to a 1st or 2nd gen explorer. But so far the Jeeps seem to fit me better.
I'm digging the I6 jeep, but the V8 one does have a few pluses.
First Jeep: An I6, fully done front and rear suspension with a 3" lift on 31's
