New grilles

IMO the valence insert that I got really completes the look, I like it a lot as well.

I did not have that insert when I bought the explorer, I forgot what was in there before the billets, but it was not like that insert for sure. Anyway my point is that Ford should have included the insert in all explorers.

JarvisB i really like that grille setup??
what did that run ya, if you dont mind me asking

it is a bit over 300 bucks for whole thing, including the paint job, and purchase of lower valence insert and the replacement main grille shell.

Looks good!

thats alot of doe. but these xs are worth it to me.
looks good. your gonna throw some pictures up when its all installed right.

Yeah but I sold my billet grilles so I had to pay a lil over 100 so it wasnt too bad for me.

Got the grille shell today at 3 PM. I had to go to Home Depot to get few stuff for this project.

So I finally started working on it like 5 PM but I had to stop 5 minutes later since both of my cutting discs snapped in pieces. I had to go back to home depot and got the real plastic cutter(I should have done it at first place) and wow what a difference, it cuts thru like a pie with my dremel rotary tool.

So I finally got the bars out like an hour ago and then I started to smoothen the perimeter but my battery died so it is charging right now. As you can see, I only managed to half-assed smoothen the top piece before the battery died.

That dremel rotary tool is awesome. I am very glad I bought this. I even spent 35 bucks on a decent sized accesory kit lol.

Maybe I doubt I will have it finished by tonight but it will be done tomorrow.

+1. Mine is almost identical. I use it often. :)

Nice work on the grille mods. I can't wait to see the finished product. Won't be long.

Finished the main grille this morning! :)

I am happy with how it looks.

I am happy with how it looks, but I got to admit, I am not impressed with the quality control. It is so obvious that Street Scenes half-assed made this kit for 3rd gens as they got bad instruction manual. In the manual, it says I got to use the clips on the top of the shell to hold the speed insert in, but the problem is there is no where for me to put clips on top of shell since there is no "base". It is kind of hard to explain when you guys dont have this grille. Once you have this, you would understand what I mean about quality. I dont think SS ever did experiment this grille with an actual 3rd gen, it looks like they just assumed how it would work based on their observation and made the manual from there. I think there is a better way to install those inserts, but I am not going to worry about that for now as I already got it in and secured in by clips.
