I think the PATS and ECU need to be from the same car. is that what you've got?

yup. You might need to make a trip to the dealership to get the pats re coded. Or, you will need to find the pats module from the truck the PCM was from. And the keys.

Check your fuses. I think the cigarette lighter fuse is linked with the obd2 port, but check them all.

So how exactly do we know that PATS is the problem?

If your problem is still "no spark" then PATS is not your problem. PATS only turns off your fuel injectors. It has nothing to do with controlling spark.
