Ok, so I'm sitting here in Iraq and quite bored. So for the heck of it, I googled "Explorer straight axle swaps" and I found this site. It look familar but guess I didn't register here in the past.
I sent the wife into Savanah Dodge for a 07 Durango (she wanted a Durango, I didn't want a BRAND new one)...she left with a 04 Mountaineer Luxuary Edition. So with that, my 96 Exploder daily beater is ALL mine again! I bought this truck as a winter rat....A body dropped and bagged Ranger didn't do too well in the winter! It's gotten me through some tough times. But now I'm getting things going my way, I'm happy to get the wife in something newer. The plan is to leave the Explorer stock for getting to work purposes. I plan on building another Minitruck, an 88 Dodge Ram 50 that was my late fathers. But you know what, I can't leave anything alone. So I'm thinking of playing with the Explorer a little here and there. I was thinking of converting it to 2wd and slamming it. But I kind of like the idea of a straight axle swap with some 33's or something. Just something to play with, nothing too crazy. But I'm going to need this site for research cause I'm on my third tranny and I haven't abused the truck. I don't know, I'll be around asking questions! Take care all!
