I was doing some reading on a 4406e install and ive read that the stock wiring for the 1354 will work. Thats great but now that were switching over to the explorer harness now thats not good lol.

I will stay tuned to see how you do this

It may be simpler just to pull the Pats B components from the donor and wire them into the Sport Trac. Here is a pic of the Pats B it wouldn't take much to wire it, there is a write up for it online. Only thing is the theft light will no longer blink on/off unless you mod it to work, which there is also a write up for that.

Dan, you can take the shift motor from the 1354 and bolt it on the 4406 (or 1356 in my trac's case) and use the original plug & harness.
Just1me, I may do that, I dont know yet. Im pulling the explorer dash anyways, I might just run a non pats ecu, havent decided which route I'm going yet, so I'll see what I'll end up doing...

Well, got a little done today, nothing worthy of pics though. Got the front driveshaft out, the rear driveshaft bolts are really on there, so I'm just gonna separate the driveshaft at the slip section, and pull the bolts after I get the axle and tcase out where I have more leverage. Got the tcase skid plate out, got one of the exhaust pipes unbolted and separated. Started hurting after that, so I called it a day. Hopefully monday I'm in better shape and be ready to pull the motor...

I got some more work done today, and found more damage from the wreck. This is the driver side exhaust manifold doughnut flange...

This is the passenger flange. Its cracked at least half way around...

IMAG1324.jpg

The rest of the exhaust was fun to get out. It was broke loose at the factory connector between the cat and the muffler. The driver side pipe needed to be removed before the engine was removed, the passenger after the engine removed, in order to keep the pipes in one piece. Here the motor is on its way out...

IMAG1325.jpg

Doesnt look like much, but with the exhaust fighting the whole way, took a couple hours to get it out. Here the motor is finally out...

Trying to get the donor completely stripped before its chariot arrives the 15th to take it to its final resting place. Should have more work done tomorrow...

Got some more done, its taking longer than I anticipated to strip the truck, but its got some rust making it troublesome. I also realized im not taking a bunch of pics, hope ya'll ain't too mad about that. Here the front axle is pulled so I could remove the motor mounts. The motor mounts and trans mount look almost new...

IMAG1327.jpg

I also pulled the power steering supply and return lines...

IMAG1328.jpg

Started working on pulling the rear axle, which is where I stopped today. More progress next week...

Nice, I bet there's plenty of members on here that would be interested in a lot of the parts if not the remaining shell after you're done stripping parts off. I know a lot of guys are looking for the gas tank skid plate from it for their Ex's and also early year Sport Trac's.

Nice work, I think were more interested in seeing the integration of the Explorer parts into the Sport Trac and how that come along with pictures. Good job though!

If anyone wants anything PM myself and Ranger SVT. If he is willing to pull it and ship it that's good with me. He and I can work out the pricing thru PM's with fellow members. The more that comes off of it the lighter the load will be hauling it back. I will be taking it back to the salvage yard where I got it in the middle of March.

Once I get to the installation of the trac, I plan to get a bunch of detail done as there ain't much info on these swaps. The mounty does have the fuel tank skid plate, and it looks to be in good shape. I can pull it for pics for those interested, shippping would be high I'm sure, but I could meet someone in a reasonable distance...

If I could find out for sure it fits an '01ST, I'll definitely take it. My sister lives in TN and my parents are there often. Why wouldn't it go on the ST with the swap though?

I already have one on mine. I have some of the interior stuff at home. I also have the sunroof assy out. What part of Tn does your family live?

I am less than an hour from there, near Knoxville. I could bring it back with me in the middle of the month when I go get the donor and take the other ST.

Cool. Let me know when that is. I'll stop the hijack now.

98 is the year Ford made a few changes, and unfortunately for me, some 98's had the older style, some had some dhanges, others had all the changes. Well, 98 is suppose to have the vss in the tcase, this ex has a build date of 2/98, and this one has no vss in the tcase, gonna half to do some research. Still trying to locate a 99-01 ecu, engine harness and fuel rail to make this easier....

SVT

I've been talking with Dave, and a decision was made to order a set of better flowing cast manifolds, as well as grab a 99-01 ecu & harness, and fuel rails. Got about 1.5" of sleet/ice followed by about 4" of snow, the most we've had this season. Not much gonna happen the next few days, waiting for everything to thaw out....
