When you bolt up the TC and adapter can you snap some pics? I still wonder about mine. I think my bolts bottomed out against the TC when i bolted it on.

Can do.

You'll have to wait until I can get another set of hands, as the trans and t-case are frigging heavy! I know its pretty tight in there, but I'll see what I can do.

ANother question, what gasket did you use between the t case and tranny? I couldn't find one so i tried RTV, thing leaks like crazy.

RTV Black is what I had laying around.

You can also get gasket paper material (comes in a roll) and cut out the correct shape.

True...My dad as been making his own gaskets for years! I just use Grey RTV...works for me:dunno:

I've used right stuff (the black stuff in the cheese wiz looking can) and paper gaskets between the transfer case and adapter

The Right stuff made it hard to pull the transfer case off.. but it seals well. Last time we use the paper stuff as we about killed ourselves getting the transfer case off when it was held on with the "right stuff".

Sweet thanks for the tips, i think i may have just knocked some off getting it up there. Anyways, back to the Ranger progress!

Not much done today. But with some help from Matt, got all the rivets busted out from the coil buckets, drop bracket and RA bracket. Separated the t-case again and got the trans bolted up. We also got the TNT D44 truss fitted to the axle.

Bob, how is the Atlas 4:3 with the 700R4 auto?
Some people seem to think there's a problem with the brakes not being able to hold back the truck in 4Lo but I say that's what neutral is for.

I'd say ignore that BS, you can't hold it with a manual either.. Just pop it into neutral.

It would push through the factory '90 D35 brakes in 4 low; it was better after I bypassed the RABS. But I shouldn't have that problem as bad with 3/4 ton brakes.

You gonna bypass the RABS on this build too?

Tom, I agree...seems like a no brainer to pop it into neutral. Matt said his doubler would drive through the brakes too and he has a manual.

This has been covered extensively in the 700R4 build threads. But here is a quick recap.

Pushing throught the brakes with a manual tranny is easier due to the direct connection between the flywheel and tranny via the clutch. Pushing through with an auto tranny is more rare, due to the fluid slip rate in the in the torque converter, hence the reason you can stop an auto tranny without a clutch. It does happen, but the compensation is knowing your rig and when its going to happen. Mine does it on very steep downgrades or going down ledges. I have gotten very quick at slapping my B&M megashifter into nuetral when needed.

Yep, I have to run some new lines for the front & rear axles and remove the ABS motor to free up some space for shock hoops.

Had to work Saturday morning and woke up to late on Sunday so I didn't get jack done this past weekend.

I did get some parts ordered though. Waiting on some new Black Rock wheels, coil overs and a couple of brackets.

Soooo, let's have spec's on the wheels and C/O's...what did ya get hmm huh hmm?:D

Nothing fancy. The wheels are just some Black Rock Series 997 Type 8s. 17x8, 4.5" BS.

The coilovers are nothing special. Just some black and silver 14" travel c/o's.
