putting a custom built roof rack on???

Where I am still in high school i got a mechanics class and i can weld me a roof rack togather but my problem is putting it on my suv. How would i Mount my Roof Rack to the top of my 1993 explorer

You can make mounts that will slide into the rails using the existing hardware.
You can buy new mounts and crossbars (made for the explorer, like thule or the like), then make mounts to those.
It's really up to you since your rack will be a custom size.
