Im wanting to remove both cats on my 2000 explorer with the 4.0.I know it wont mess with the o2 sensors coming out of the manifolds, but ive heard there is also 2 more o2 sensors before the muffler. Is there any way to remove or disable these 2?I dont want check engine lights or other problems.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking for info on the 4.o exhaust clip thread and found someone else had removed the cats on their explorer and mentioned using "BamaChips".Has anyone else used this or any other o2 sensor cel eliminators? Is it a scan tool that does this or an actual chip. Thanks for any help.:us:

the BamaChip is an SCT Tuner with a custome tune from Doug at BamaChips.com. many people use this mod, and it will turn off the cel. try searching for "Tuners" as there are a few choices

What's with the hate...

Removing cats is illegal. Many threads on the subject have been deleted and/or locked down in the past. This one will probably follow as the site doesn't allow promotion of illegal activity.

That's my guess.

You're hilarious...
It's only illegal in some states...
In michigan it's legal to run without cats. as long as you have a muffler you're fine.

StreetRod it's ok.. I just couldn't believe that you said it... I don't agree with it hurting the environment all that much... our engines do burn up most of the fuel and all that would be emitted from the vehicle is fumes... which I'm pretty sure a cat. does alittle cleaning up after the engine but not much....

OK smartass, tell that to the mods. Threads on this topic have been shut down for years on this site. Don't shoot the messenger.

I don't have my rear cats for what it's worth.

You are wrong !!
It is against federal law to remove a cat without replacing it

Thread gone
