they do? hahahaha only for a little while maybe....

Okay, what day to we meet up to wheel? I need to know what dates to take off from work.

July 15, 10am, Loon Lake Dam trail head.

Man something about making that 1000 mile drive to put my truck on one of the most brutal trails around makes me nervous, should I be feeling this way? hahaha thats a long way to limp home......

how about a front locker on a 92 ttb with 6" lift and 3" body lift w/ 33's? I live in Sac and was just up there this weekend. The gatekeeper looks more difficult then ever. I didn't have my rig though, replacing front u joint and transfer case issues. Should have it all buttoned up in a few weeks.

How's the rest of the trail? Or did you just go as far as Gatekeeper? Did you see the DUI roadblock? Have you run it in your Ex before?

......I drove 5,300 miles roundtrip to do it :p

don't be such a wuss :D

Yes I saw the DUI check point and went through it with no problems. It's actually a good thing because every year I see more and more people up there drunk and driving their rigs into stupid situations. It makes it much safer for everyone on the trail. Also while I was there I watched some guys in a rock buggy come out through the gatekeeper. They then, in front of US forest rangers, proceeded to drive up a snowbank and over trees. Unfortunately the CHP wasn't checking people for DUI's coming off of the trail. This is the type of behavior that ruins it for the rest of us.

and no I have not been through the whole trail before. I did not have rockslides until recently and they are an absolute must for this trail. The only real trail report I have to give is that there is still a lot of snow up there. A lot of melting snow equals a lot of mud and water.

OH man, good Ol Krusty :)
talk to me when you got 276K miles on the rig and ford discontinues all your parts, hahahaha

Whatever you do don't let an old truck sit for 6 months without being drivin, geesh! Electrical gremlins! Everything solid state just went caput! fix em one by one..

Oh Man, a DUI checkpoint on the Rubicon, where do I sign up for that overtime detail??? :D

Sweet. The only place we have them down here is Oceanside or Escondido :thumbdwn:

The CHiP's were there in force too. There were two flat tops, two tahoes, and an expedition. It was a very well placed DUI checkpoint. I didn't see anyone in cuffs though.

Toss some sliders under the doors and you will be good to go. You could make it no problem. Besides I think the frame is the only thing lift on your BII that has 276k miles on it.

I am a maybe on this run. I dont think I will have my truck ready by then cause I have been to busy with work. If I make it we will be bringing tracy's jeep. With her 100:1 crarl ratio we wont have to keep stopping when following tom

Cool, glad to see the boys are working up there in paradise. They usually only work hard in the winter. If you see an officer with a name tag "S. Usher", say Hi for me, he is a long time friend who moved to Placerville to go trout fishing every day.

Oh, we call them "Slick Tops".

Matt you might be right, my door lock relays went out yesterday, apparently they last 276K miles :) my passenger side window motor is one of the only stock parts left, aside from all the metal :)

:exporange OK so the dates are July 15th-18th, 10AM at Loon Lake right ?? We meeting for dinner the night before?
Oh and yes the KID with the J**P will be comming along :D I wonder if he knows he's fair game :shoot:

I'll keep the strap attached to my rear bumper then.......

Ok, here's the details:

July 15th - 10am - Loon to Buck Island
July 16th - Buck to Lookout point, and back.
July 17th - Buck Island back to Loon

If we go done Old Sluice, depends on the people. Personally, I like Old Sluice. It's a fun section of the trail!

This will be the last trip for the zuk in it's current form, and probably the last for me for a months.

Sorry Rockranger, it might even have a lower gear range for this trip - all in preparation for more modifications.

The conditions on the rubicon at the moment are wet, wet, and more wet. The trail should dry out by this date - hopefully.
