Well I put it in today it I think it turned out very well. I hooked it up in series between the radiator and the secondary cooler. I added a little less than 1 quart to bring it back up to normal level. It is very unoticable from a distance. I ran into one problem which was hooking up the hose from the hardline coming from the radiator. I had enough hose (that came with the kit) to hook up the OUT port from the filter to the secondary cooler, but need more to hook up the IN from the hardline coming from the radiator. Went to Autozone and boought 3 ft. of high pressure transmission hose for $2.97. Ran it and the filter gets hot to the touch and there are zero leaks so all is working well. Here's the pics:

Thanks Al :)

How long should I wait before I change the filter? 150, 250, 500 miles? I plan on doing a pan drop and replacing the older internal screen filter with the Microfelt filter at the same time I do this.

Scott,

I changed mine after about 500 miles. I still want to cut it open to see what crap this cleaned out of the tranny. Any tips folks?

Read the earlier posts in this thread for info about opening the filter.

I just bought this kit but I am pretty sure on what to do but want to double check with you guys to make sure I dont mess anything up. I have a 99 sport btw. I looked on the bottom right hand side on the radiator and noticed 2 blacks lines, 1 on top of the other. Are these the tranny lines? Also where exactly do I connect the filter to the lines? Is there a detailed write up w/ pics newhere?

I also had read another thread in this forum that said we need to have special filters NOT OIL filters to prevent the drop of PSI in the lines after the filter. Is this TRUE?

No, not true, I have always used oil filters. I currently use K&N and have used Mobil 1.

Do you have a pic of where exactly the lines I am supposed to tap into? Is it the lines on the lower right hand side of the radiator? Sorry for so many questions I just dont wanna mess anything up

You can simply disconnect the two lines and start the truck and see which one is flowing the most fluid ( some will come out of both ).

Ah sorry guys I didnt mean top and bottom, I meant left and right. This is what I found when I look under the passenger side of the truck bumper are these two lines. Can I tap into here?

Yes. It's where I tapped in.

On my 1997 V8:
-The outboard line, (left as viewed) is the return to the tranny, leave this hooked to the aux trans cooler.
-The inboard line, (right as viewed) is the send from the radiator. Remove this from the aux cooler, and hook it up to the "in" on the filter.
-Run a section of hose from the trans cooler to the "out" on the filter - you'll be all set.

My filter is inbetween the radiator's cooler and the aux cooler.

awsome man, I am going to remove the right line as viewed in the picture and hooking it to the "in" then running a line from "out" to where I disconnect the line at in the first place. How much fluid did you have to add?

I had to add just shy of a quart.

Fill the filter to the top, if its mounted vertical. Then run the truck around the block for a bit to get the fluid hot and circulated, and check using the dipstick. I use "long" Penzoil PZ-1 filters, and they are about 3/4 to 7/8 of a quart.

I mounted it horizontal, if I drive around the block to get it circulating without the correct amount of tranny fluid will it mess up? I know trannys are picky on fluid levels. And im using K&N

You'll be fine... or to be extra cautious add 1/2 a quart ahead of time, drive to get the fluid hot, and then check/fill via the dipstick.

I recommend changing the filter after 500mi, then going on your oil change schedule.
