So I heard TBars is going to be supplying ice cream on the trail again. Lets see it Ted :D

I got a new toy too:

....I ain't got a clue as to what yer talkin' bout..:dunno:

...All I been doin is working my butt off trying to make it to "King of the Hammers"..

0121121134.jpg

...and for them thats needin specs..:p:

...It's not all fancy smancy like the ARB one but it will work..:p:

...Brian...How did you hold down yours on our last run? Did you buy a hold down? The reason I ask was I remember you had it behind the drivers seat but I didn't remember if you had the rear seat folded down or not..

Looks nice! Mine does reside behind the drivers seat, I havent really found a better place for it. I usually leave that single seat folded down all the time and the other 2/3 of the seat up. I use a pull strap that wraps around the rear handle. I have an old seatbelt I cut up to get the metal buckle part that I put in that seatbelt in the center and then tie off to it and then to a tie down point in the cargo area (E-track mod).

.. ..A pic of how you strapped it would help...I know I need to strap it down but will probably do it on the passenger side..:dunno:

..I had picked it up the night before in pristine condition and crammed it in the back of the Ranger full of tools and wood debris..:D..I know I had just told Scott minutes before you posted up...

...You might find a configuration in this post useful in the future for your new toy..;)

Next time I load everything up I need to take pictures of how I tie everything down including the fridge. I'm always needing a picture for something on how I pack and tie down everything but I never remember to get one. I just wrap the strap around the handle, nothing fancy really.

I was browsing the ExPo classifieds and saw your post that you picked it up

Good stuff but if I need to winch backwards I will just put the winch on the back! It is all wired up and ready to pull on either end of my Explorer. I do need to try the Pull-pal out and practice with it some. There are places I go in NM without any trees that can get muddy or deep sand so I figured it may come in handy although I hope I never have to use it. I picked it up on CL too, never used and for cheap.

...It's not all fancy smancy like the ARB one but it will work..:p:

I really like the newer ARB fridge...that Norcold looks exactly like the old ARB and the Engel.

...IIRC, (the older ones ARB, Engel., Norcold), they are all identical as they were all made the same using the same boxes, compressor's and parts, except for their badging was different..

..ARB broke out a couple years ago and are now built exclusively for them and are made totally differently...

..The older models are reliability proven and seem to withstand most everything...I got my new one for a steal out of a motorhome and it was only used once...

...In a previous post I was looking for some type of grill I could use in the back country in fire sensitive areas where you could only use propane grills/stoves but no open fires, n order to grill meat ..

..After seeing several grills which most used approx. 8 charcoal briquets to fuel the grill, I stumbled across this one that uses propane...
http://www.sportsauthority.com/prod...44.2277090.2277847&view=all&parentPage=family

..I haven't found one yet but I've heard several folks recently have found these grills by walking in the store and they were $30 and are suppose to fold down pretty compact..

The Cadac Safari Chef© grill is a unique combo-cooking system for camping, tailgating, and cooking out at home. With the 5-in-1 design, you can grill or fry on the non-stick reversible grill plate, stir-Fry in the wok-top, BBQ on the mini Vector top, and boil on the gas burner. The Cadac Safari Chef© also has folding support legs for easy packing into the handy carrying bag.

..Success...I tested out the new fridge last weekend and I'm happy to report it worked well..:D

..and I picked up a couple more things...This should be self explanatory..you never know and for a buck it's a keeper..:p:

..Then I picked up the safari grill (posted above)..I didn't find it for $30 but it was on clearance..
0130121744.jpg

0130121754.jpg

..It weighs about 10# and when folded down it measures just under 9" deep..
0130121753.jpg

..and 12" in circumference..

...and some more stuff..:D

..I received this as an email today...Anyone wanting to make a First Aid Kit should read up on it here...:biggthump

___________________________________________________________

..The Cadac Safari Grill..I just used mine for 4 days straight out at the "King of the Hammers"...

..It's a keeper as I cooked lot's of different meat on it using the ribbed side of the griddle and there was plenty of wind and it worked awesome..:biggthump

...I did have people come over to me while cooking from all over the States just to inquire about it and it's easy and compact ways ...Each of them informed me they wanted to get one on the way home after seeing one in person and never hearing about them before..

...I did however break one of the zippers when closing it after the first use..Luckily, it has 2 zippers on it..

0205121317a.jpg

..While I was out there I ran into the Wally World in Yucca Valley and stumbled onto this new item in the cereal section of the store..

..It's not only a bowl with a lid on it..
0206121147.jpg

...It also keeps the spoon with the bowl..It actually locks into a niche designed just to hold the spoon..;)
0206121148.jpg

...This was $2.50 at Wally World but it's priceless in my book..I don't know how many times I have dug thru stuff for just a bowl or a spoon especially first thing in the morning...

..Now I have a bowl with it's own spoon I can find and use everyday for cereal or oatmeal and know where to find them easily..:D

..Oh yea...Harley approves of the new fridge..She thinks it's a great as for a better viewing platform but I think she is also guarding it as she has figured out that thats where all the good food comes from..:D

0208121036a.jpg

..Oh BTW, the new fridge is getting ready for a mod of it's own..:shifty_ey

Nice find. I'll take one of those Burgers. LOL.

Nice find. I'll take one of those Burgers. LOL.

..Can't ya just smell 'em cookin'..?

..I forgot to add...While I was out at KOH I grabbed one of these at a race sale price..

..I bought it for a really short snatch strap, Kinetic Recovery Rope M-P Super-Yanker 3/4" X 10' 19,000lb. .. It is also designed as a tree saver with a built in chaff guard..

..The fridge got a mod of it's own today...:hammer:

...I spent what time I had out at KOH with my dog thinking I was getting into a fight with the fridge...Everytime I opened it up it was either hitting the roof or banging me in the head whenever I needed something from inside of it..

..This is a common problem with the older ARB/Engel/Norcold 45 qt. fridge/freezers...

..You can see from this picture that the lid is long and would take up valuable ceiling space just to get it opened all the way...Even with the unit turned and at the rear hatch it would hit the ceiling..

0121121057a.jpg

..So today I headed over to Mc-Master-Carr armed with a parts list I found here..;)
http://forum.ih8mud.com/camping-outdoor-gear/98524-arb-fridge-would-cooler-if-opened-like.html

..After a few minutes with a drill and a screwdriver I not only now have a fridge that I can open the lid all the way in both of my trucks but...

"Look Ma, No hands"..
0209121548a.jpg

..That's right..I can open the fridge all the way with one hand and the fridge lid will stay open by itself so I can use both hands to sort stuff and quit getting hit in the head while doing it..

..These hinges are the secret..They are a friction hinge and are adjustable...They work perfect for this mod..:biggthump

..I placed an order today for another goodie for better storage in the trucks..This time it's storage in the fridge..;)

...I found these online but no matter whom you order these from, they drop ship from Engel USA in Florida..

..These will help separate and store items to the top of the fridge for easy access and temp control...
http://www.beveragefactory.com/refrigeration/refrigeration/portable/BKSETSTZ.shtml

..These were made for the Engel Models MT35F-U1 and MT45F-U1 but also work on the Norcold MRFT40..;)
