Ford d shaft bolts are 12mm 12 point not 13mm or 1/2”!!!
I do have a few 1354e t cases like 6 of them I sell them for $150,
(FYI we also have several 1354m, $4-600 for a manual caee with linkage)
Shipping these days is $$$$ for me from north Idaho they ding us for extra, would be about $100 shipping to so cal
Do not let a slight leak turn you away the caee can be split rather easily and re sealed in like 30 minutes
Many people about 10 years ago we were running Mercon v in the t cases because that is what the transmissions use… ford when then come out and say Mercon v is too slick for t cases they were correct. I have personally seen 2-3 1354, 4405 and 4406 blow up due to using Mercon v.
We Run Mercon iii or ford transfer case fluid now no more issues
Driving on dry pavement in 4wd for too long can also chew them up
Sorry to resurrect an old thread.
I threw in a TC from a wrecking yard and got my Explorer running but only to 3rd gear. Tops out at 30 mph.
I have a feeling the shop threw it in with Mercon V.
Would that cause it to top out at 30 mph.
I have another issue. When I turn to the left side... like sharper turn at slow speed like doing a U-turn... I get the banging sound as if I'm in 4x4 ... but I am not.
Is the control Trac engaging when it shouldn't be?
Could it be my tires?
Could I deflate /inflate them to a certain PSI to avoid this.
Finally. I have a friend in Idaho.
She's near Brundage resort I guess that is McCall or something.
If you could assure me a quality TC suitable for my rig. I can drive it up there in my Honda CRV and stay with her while you do your magic.
And then haul it back to my truck and have a shop put it in for me.
I have one BW 4405 TC taken off my vehicle. It's the one that blew up. Which would be easy to throw in the trunk and haul up with me.
Then there's the one inside my Explorer now that only goes up to 30 mph.
In the meantime I'll switch out the fluid and see what happens.
