well, I flopped it, caught on fire while flopped, sheared my pinion, broke some glass and found out I have a design flaw. The axle since its shackle foreward likes to get puched back when it goes against something and the shackles reverses and puts the leaf in really abd shape.

Does anyone have a good idea for an anti wrap bar type link that will prevent the axle from wrapping as well as keeping it from pushing back?

Wow

I had the same thing happen to the rear during the new years run -- the rear shackle was smashed up against a rock and my friend said the leaf spring looked very ugly.

BTW how did you shear the D44 pinion? Was it just from raw [unadulterated] torque?

I ask cauz I'm kind of surprised that the axle shafts or hubs didnt give before the pinion.

Im guessing it sheared as the axle was pushed, and articulated at a funny angle. Thats why people mount there shackles in the rear and not the front, to avoid this.

As far as a anti-wrap design, i have no idea.

make a braket that bolts to the ubolt spring plate to the shackle...or extreame boomerang shackles...

Either boomerang shackles or turn it around the "right way". :p:

Geez Curtis, are you alright? Did you get any pics :D

I was the one who said that.

I bounced once and the axle wrapped at a bad angle. I did it on the ledge in whiterock, the easy line. :(

A bracket from the spring plate ..... umm.... ?

Preach it sista!

Oh, so you know what the two of us did to our trucks already...? ;)

Jay has the pics of Micah's engine smoking, I just have still shots of HOW it got to the point of catching on fire. And how he managed to break his pinion:

Thats on top of it. She had already made it up the harder part. Thats the off camber area that you gotta go over to get back down.

Actually, both of us flopped on our sides. Marcy was responsible for pulling my truck the other 3/4 of the way back over onto its wheels, and Micah had to be pulled backwards off the wall he leaned into. Sheesh, both of us got rescued by J**ps this weekend... this is bad, lol. Yes, that was 'The Ledge' that I rolled on, and it was my fault for not knowing to let the clutch out when you're about to go over. I've got video of Micah's truck smoking and mine being rolled back over but I don't know how/where to put it. Both of us have a lot of fixing to do

Micah didnt get pulled back at all. We tossed a rope around the B pillar and pulled on it to get his wheels on something for a little traction and he drove out.
