can u detail what you do for the brakes? brakes and hooking up a new steering box are the last things i need to plan out for my swap. No one really seems to detail the brakes/brake lines.

no one details the brakes because its actualy quite easy. In many cases you can use extended explorer lines and bolt them to the new calipers (stock brake rotors and calipers for the axle you are using)

yup, I got my superlift extended lines extednded 1 1/2 ft' for 50 bucks. As far as steering box, im a 1st gen so I dont have to do that.

Congrats. I find it hard to believe that I owned that thing. Next time I'm at my parent's I'll have to run up there and check it out.

Everything else holding up well? I think I read about some trans problems awhile back......

IMO one of the best parts of a large modification like this is it makes it no longer the previous owners truck. Its no longer your old truck. Its now simply Micahs truck.

Ya, the tranny started slippin real bad on schoolhouse rd right down from my house, so I parked it and got midget, then I did a tranny swap/sas.

Edit: I have the shocks in hand, and the same f-250 towers spas used should arrive tuesday. I wont have limit straps in time for the pap run so I guess someone will just have to try and hold me back.

I just bought some moderately beefy rachet straps... if we use two of each on either side you should be good...

Anybody got a 315/70 17 spare????

HA, uhm, NO real limit straps are FAR stronger for a reason and they still get broken on trails.

oh, thank you.

If anyone is curious to see what I have into this I updated the list in the first post, thats everything minus a few odds and ends and what I paid some of the guys who helped.

Also, this is whats lies ahead.

New shock mounts, reusing the f-250 towers with a backing plate they will be tig'ed to.
63" Chevy leafs in rear with long travel shocks
Disk Brakes on the 9"
Square tube rear shaft, and another spare square shaft that can go front or rear
Aussie Locked front
Warn hubs
Bump stops and limit straps
c5 tranny and doubler
rock sliders tied into a cage (internal or external, dont know yet.)
new front and rear bumpers
winch

Nice list,......
now get to work:D

I would, but the driveway isnt to inviting when its 40 and raining.

That and I spent all my money last week in vermont. :(

Sure is nice to be able to sit back and watch everyone else's SAS hangups while I drag my ass and put all my stuff together before starting it :p:
btw what u-joints did you use for the front and rear to the d44 and 9"

the front is the stock 1st gen d35 ujoint, same size as the d44 yoke.

The rear is an oddball conversion joint, its a precision joint ill get you the aprt number for if you want.

My axle was off a 1976 F150 and it bolted right up to my stocker driveshaft. My rear axle is the stocker, so guess it doesn't help you.

did you keep the stock driveshaft the same length or did it need to be extended? We cut the ends of mine and made a square tube shaft instead.

Mine is stock length. I moved my front axle 3.5" forward. That is about the furthest forward I could get away with with a stock drive shaft.

I'd like to see some pics and the material you used for the driveshafts. Did you mig weld them?

rookie mig'ed them, 18" 2.0 x .25 wall and 20" 2.5 x .25 square steel

Work will soon continue, bulletproof shock towers, c4/d20 which im picking up sunday, and a sawzall once I get the stones to do it. :D

Plus all kinds of little goodies, and going over rookies welds with the tig torch.
