got yelled at for doing the finacial debate again mby my old man agina today, but fact of the matter is that after siting down, lookin at my current budget situation and giving up looking into it any further really quickly my grand master sceme is a ways off. maby when i hit b-tech rate
so im looking at things more realistically, and with the hopes that its inspected and insured in the coming week am seting my sights on further goals.
i gues the corect place to start small would be some 31s, f-150 seats and shackles.
damn thing is way to short as is, so we gotta do somethin
anybody got any opinions, other than "lift that *****"

If you want the height for cheap right now, go for the coil seats, shackles and body lift. That's around $200 and enough for 33s. Although I don't like 33s without re-gearing, people do it...

gearing is something i want to do once and when i do i want to go deep, so i dont know id be lookin to push 33s yet, becase of the stock gearing
seats and shackles looks to be doable without to much of a problem at this curent point in time
i would like to get a set of sliders done too
manual t-case has always in the plan
so i guess if thats the case i gotta look at some tires. any ideas?

A small lift F150 spacers and either shackles or an add a leaf would be perfect. I would throw a set of 31's on there and add a locker to the rear axle and call it good.
I had a set of Bridgestone Dueler M/T's that were great. They grabbed real well and had good road manners too.

You might invest in a locker if you're staying on the cheap..... I got my Aussie for somewhere around $220 shipped and it's been a lifesaver in a lot of situations (not the one where Skunk had to pull me out, obviously
: ). BFg muds are great for rock climbing but they suck horribly in the snow, MTR's are great all around but they're expensive, same with my Baja Mtz's. I think you're probably going to have to take whatever comes your way first, maybe on Craigslist or the local papers. Some variety of A/T would probably be a good bet for your first wheelin' tires. Just $.02 from someone who's been through several sets of 31's

thought about the locker, but im hesitant to pull the carrier apart. that and im a lil more woried about tires and stuff first before i get that far with it
was thinkin about runnin either BFG ATs or MTs, but leanin towards the muds
imma see what i can get em for through the dealer
if i can sell this damn lift its getin new tires and wheels all round
you guys are just gonna have to deal with me bein the little guy with opens holdin ya back
at least for a while

Learn me something here J, I'm confused.
If you already have the 5.5" lift why are you looking for a cheap way to lift?
1. can't afford other stuff needed to make the 5.5" worth it, ie: tires, gears, etc...?
2. doin SAS for lift later on?
3. what the dilly-o?

Combination of can't afford other stuff needed to make the 5.5" worth it, ie: tires, gears, etc, atleast not for a while, and when i do it i want to do it right, and not settle for anything less than what i want in the end.
I bought the superlift kit a long time back, when i was a little more green than i am and have since decided that the 5.5 duff kit is the way i want to go when i get there... so its kindof one step back to take 2 forward. Didnt really help that i dove in a little above my head on somethings before i fully understood others. IE buying lifts and such for a truck we werent sure was gonna run yet, and then having the motor crap out on me with absolutely no clue how to fix that type of situation
Keep in mind in the time ive owned this truck i went from living home working in a hardware store and having no real responsibility in life (had way to much $ to burn) to being a certified technician waiting for his work experience to go through to get my paper from ASE living on my own without that family or financial stability to fall back on, kind of changed the overall picture on alot of things for me. weve since goten My own apt, no more roomate to steal from me, and a brand new job and seem to be on th way up and out of the hole ive spent alot of years in. For the first time in a long time i truely beleive im on the way up, and if you knew anything about my mental history coming from me that says alot
If i run the truck like this for a while i think i can build a much better rig in the end. I really want to get it out of my damn garage and use it at this point.
This way once i get it out there i can over time get together all of the stuff i want to for it, and not be dead in the water showin up to rausch creek in a focus and tryin to get it stuck in the parkinglot
and now that ive way to personally rambled in my build up thread im gonna shut up now... ah, i did say this was like my blog anyway...

It's all totally understandable about jumping in farther than you're really supposed to. I think everyone goes through that. It's good that you realized sooner than later that you did though.

I agree with both of ya. Life is subject to change: it's knowing when to change your habits to match that's the most important survival skill, IMHO. Jay, I've done my Aussie twice by myself now... if you want help or if you want me to do it for you, I wouldn't mind. Need something to keep myself occupied, y'know? And don't put yourself down and think that just because your Exploder isn't as modified as the larger ones in our crew that it automatically means you'll be the one holding the group back (that's what Ben is for

yea, better now then with a huge ass truck on tires that would be more at home on the focus
wait, i though ben was for running head first into obsticals?
Oh, and i aint putin myself down... incase no ones realized i constantly make fun of my vehicles... kind of hides the obsesion or somethin like that. I love both my little *******s
if this little **** makes it through everything it needs to do tomorow imma be the hapiest fawker on this board
maby we could swing an ausie in a few months if i get a tax return anything like last year... hmm..... and id apreciate the help in the install, the only complete teardown of a rear ive done was a bench rebuild of a ford 9 that wasnt goin in anything when we were done, was just for practice
oh, and btw, i painted the window trim and mirrors tonight. was to lazy to get the camera though.
pulled the maf and housing off and whent at it with some cleaner... also tid a throtle body service, and ran some injector cleaner through it.
also fixed my dome light so it actually works with the driver door now, that was drivin me nuts
i gotta stop at the dmv tomorow... aparently the (c-word) didnt forward the registration renweal to me as it went to the old adress, and it sliped my mind so that expired unbenownst to me
so as of last night shes insured again... as of tomorow shell be registered, and then we can go see if something i made in my garage can pass NJ state inspection.... (im sure it will, but it just sounded fun to say it that way)
wish me luck
