I took the BII off insurance = sad sad day, it may be 6 months before she sees daylight again... the full cage / body diet phase will begin soon, finishing up a couple of other projects first.

LOL, I did the same thing when my Explorer went in for the cage. I keep full coverage and comprehensive on because I have way too much into it even though it's 18 years old so I'm still paying probably $60-75 a month on it. It is my "daily commuter" though LOL.

I'm so slammed with other work, all I can do is wonder when I'll get to the zuk...
Still need to finish some yard work (laying sod, irrigation in the backyard), clean out the garage, get the last of the parts for the zuk, find metal to make sliders/bumpers/armor..

I havent built anything for the Explorer in a long time. I have been busy building other stuff. 2 full tube buggies, Toyota truck front bumper, Toyota gear swaps, high steering for a YJ and just had a TJ in the garage today for some modifications to the seat mounts and I have 2 appointments next month to build 2 cages and then another cage for a Toyota sometime soon.

ArkLaTex area is over-run with them. They are like rats here. The game and fish commision is working with hunters in an effort to get rid of as many as possible. I spoke with a game warden last year and it is their estimate that if something radical isnt done there will be no more whitetail deer in our area in 10-12 years. They destroy lots of farmland too.
Plan is to set trap, kill/skin/clean, cover in texas BBQ rub and brown sugar, 12 hours in the smoker, enjoy.

LOL, thanks! Mostly just people from my local club wanting stuff done and know I can do it. I also worked at Twisted Customs for 2 months earlier this year building tube buggies for competition rock crawling and rock racing, that is one pictured above. I went to KOH with them and just got back from a roadtrip to Tucson for their WERock comp and then to Moab for the XRRA race.

All my tools are packed up ready for the move
But I'd like to see somebody do some more tube work. Like Matt. Plus, DB_1 has been quiet lately.
no job= no mas=no projects
I am is a similar spot to Stic-o. Not so much no work just not as much so we have cut down on the spending some. Hopefully it will pickup again in a month or so and then projects can start again.

:Oh and RockRanger, be careful with the follower die (or "shoe" as some people call it). It can get scratched rather easily which then transfer onto the tube you're bending.

uhhh, I spent about 2 hours on the drill press last night. It was one of those boring nights just prepping for the fun stuff.
My old sliders had a couple 2" mounts similar to a receiver with big gussets on the frame. The idea was to make them easily removable, It think the concept was something like they could be taken off and used as a ramp, base for hi-lift in muddy conditions, weapon etc. I don't think I ever took them off except it was very easy when I parted out the truck to remove them.
I'm going to use the same style of mount but make them a little longer. I drilled holes to tuck them in tight and a second set of holes 2.5" further out. This will allow me to adjust how far they stick out.
I'm sure if I was Winter and Paul I would devise some system to automatically push them out to fend off rocks and other traffic, but for me I just recall a few trails I ran that would have been nice to have the sliders offering a little more protection but don't always want the outrigger of a big slider sticking out. I may run these with hitch pins, the ultimate in fast change and removal if I want to shed 90 lbs. off my truck.

LOL my poor wife is so ready!! I dont think I have ever had a tool sitting in a box that still needs assembly, but with 8 strollers, swings, pack and plays, changing table, and baby buggies in the "shop" being assembled, its getting hard to keep up! LOL
I cant WAIT to bend some tube, the snow has melted AGAIN time to get the plasma fired up and hack off my inner fenders (another tool I ahave yet to use)

yeah, my drill press rarely gets used, I bought it at pep boys for $60 when I did my solid axle plus about $200 worth of drill bits. They add up in a hurry at $25 a pop.
