Hey You can definately still go out there with 2 wheel drive. You dont have to sign up with the "TDS" event. It would definately help out if you have a locker or a trac-lok installed on your rig, but there are trails and ways out to where people hang out that you can get to in two wheel drive.
Its better than not going, plus once you are there somebody might have extra room in there X for you to ride....

Good luck making it.

Chief is right, you only have to be 4wd if you want to go on one of their runs.
You can still register for the raffle but going on their runs is not required. We usually head out and people watch with our own group.

ok here comes a question who from pheonix is heading out that is willing to let me ride along and maybe convince to convert this thing to a 4wd

also what would yall recommend putting in the rearend i have heard something about like a electric locker with a toggle switch on the dash right now i have an open rearend

trying to fix signature

So, where are we camping? At Truckhaven, or Ocotillo? On the mesa at the usual spot, or more westerly on the mesa to avoid the all night traffic?????

I like the mesa. Don't get as much dust kicked up by the wind. Do you really think there will be that much night traffic? DB was going to scout around.

I'll try and get out there after work this week and scout some possible spots.
Kinda hard to gauge what will be a good spot with TDS being at Ocotillo and all. Will people be scattered or all camped out near the vendors area? Who knows.

If you go closer to the cell tower there are alot of spots out there that groups like just runs also camp at. It seems pretty busy out that way as well. What about moving east about 100 yards or so from where we were. I havent been down that way but it doesnt go anywhere so trafic should be limited. I doubt Illl make it out but we will see.

Good Idea. The group is not as big and we can camp closer to the edge were there's less traffic. C'mon Matt TDS won't be the same without you.

Thanks DB.

I have to much junk to fix on the truck. Need a bigger radiator, a new fan, and a new fan clutch. Plus running at truckhaven last trip with no front shocks was horrible. I need to redo the front end before I do any other runs. Also I have a rear locker to install as well.

The only problem with camping farther east from where we usually camp is it is limited in space, and might fill up before we get there. The only downsides to camping farther west on S22 are that its harder to get down into Truckhaven, and its mostly rocks, which is not good for tent campers. The view is awsome though, you can see all of Truckhaven from up there. How about off the west closed road? Or we could camp down in the flat below where we usually camp on the mesa. We will be on the right side of the road to go check out TDS, and there is a hole other place to wheel over there between the state park and S22. My family used to camp there when I was a kid and it was okay. If you turn left just before you go up the hill to the mesa on S22 (if you are traveling west), then bear right and hug the hillside, you can camp right next to the wash. It might be crowded down there as well though. And if we camped here, we wouldn't have to worry about any problems with tree huggers at Truckhaven.

If I had my own place, I'd say bring it over in a second. :( Maybe by the end of the year.

Try your Uncle's house down the street from me, the neighbors love it when I weld, grind, cut, etc....

After reading up on all this Truckhaven troubles, I just joined CORVA.

Well now I'm not positive I am going to make it. My son, Kevin, made it into the local Honor Band and their concert is Sat night. Already registered for TDS though.
We'll see . . . .
