things I'm attacking with herculiner! LOL

Well my grill and trim surrounding the headlights are done and looking good! I might put one more coat on when I get home, but only if it looks like I need it.
So far it looks like good stuff, though it is messy and gets everywhere. The only thing I'm kind of disappointed with so far is that I can't seem to get it very smooth, anywhere I have herculined is rough to the touch... but I kind of expected that anyways, so no big deal.
This weekends projects will be to herculine the rear bumper and the doorjams! Then possibly the flares the conferr roof rack (though I can see the roof rack taking quite a long time!
So far I can see that gallon lasting quite a while, I've done the grill and the headlight trim and I've barely even made a dent in the gallon.
Don't get that stuff on your hands. I'll have it on my hands for weeks I'm sure, I was really good about wearing gloves and I was all done cleaning up, not a bit on me, went to go move the can and found where a little bit had dropped on to the handle and I couldn't get it off.
If anyone is bored in Colorado and needs something to do come on over, just wear old clothes and bring some long thick rubber gloves!

Here's some pics...

The grill and headlight trim are now done (though needs some trim work as I peeled the masking tape too early and it took some chunks of herculiner with it) and I've got the first coat on the tire carrier and jerry can holder. Once it cools off (its about 90 out there right now, not hot for some people but too hot to be working on herculiner IMHO!) I'm going to do the trim work on the headlight trim, put on a second coat on the spare tire/jerry can holders, then start working ont he main part of the bumper itself.

well we ended up going a little nuts... got the jerry can mount and the spare tire mount done with two good coats, got one good coat on the bottom portion of the bumper... we also decided to attack the frame (the part of the frame you can see through the rear wheel wells) and the mirrors The flares will probably be the next project since I seem to have plenty of herculiner left and I better start using it up or it'll dry out, I can barely shut the lid as it is

Well that was fun! We got the rest of Matts rear bumper and I did another coat on mine over everything. I didn't get any on my weiner either!

I guess Herculiner will make it easier to clean bugs from the front grille after a night trip, no?

Maybe because the Herculiner is so rough-surfaced the bugs will come off easier. That's something that always annoys me--bugs on the mirror fronts and front after a night time trip.

Rhett, well possibly so, I don't really know (and I rarely get going fast enough on the highway to kill too many bugs, LOL) it was mainly because the paint was chipping on mirrors, and I didn't like the chrome look that was left behind when my previous attmpt at blackening it with dupli-color spray on bed liner stuff didn't work too good as much of it chipped away.

sideswipe, herculiner is a roll-on bedliner (well thats what its designed for) but many ont he board have used it for such things as brushguards, rocker panels, bumpers, etc. It can be bought for about $100 a gallon which includes the rollers, a brush, and the scouring pad. Doesn't include the xylene which you gotta buy seperate for about $8 a gallon, and it only comes in gallon size, and you'll probably use less then a quart, LOL

It will not chip away and protects the surface being covered from rust and scratching and the elements which painted panels may not hold up to.
Others on this board have also been know to us it as a contraveptive also but I wouldnt advise this.

You can buy it in quart sizes as well, but it will not come with the rollers and scouring pads. I believe that Kmart has it.

It would be cool, however you could probably never get them to balance again.

bislam, while herculining would be a problem (like ryan mentioned, you'd never get em balanced again) you may be able to find someone to powdercoat your wheels which would look cool and protect as well. Powdercoating is more exact then herculining .
By the way I already noticed one problem with my otherwise cool herculining job... I can't fold in my mirrors now. LOL.

You can, it just requires the use of a sharp knife. I discovered that also.
