OOPS! my fingers slipped.

hehe, I wish I could take better pictures.. I'm a horrible photographer

Lets not get off topic here, this factory tint problem is for 95-97 Explorers with the mirror tint. 98+ came with smoke tint, so all you guys shut up. :o

amen.. is it just me.. or did some 97s come with black tint? jut the other day I was behind a 95-97 X with black tint.. I thought it was unusual cos you dont really see that.

btw yall.. you think the rear windows.. excluding the hatch window on the 98+ X is the same size as ours? I looked at some pre 95s at the junk yard the other day.. most of the glass is so scratched up.. I wouldn't dream of that kind of swap. 98+ would be more avalible.. and probablly cheaper too.

or do yall think tha twoul dbe just the totally wrong thing to do? I mean changing out glass is kinda a big step ya know?

I believe the '97 Explorers, Mountaineers, and Expeditions got black tint at the latter half of its model year.

When I get home next week, I'll go to Wal-Mart and get some of their reflective tint and see if it'll match. I know it won't be a 100% match but it'll be a good try.

I had my truck tinted all in 35%.... which is tinted over the factory rear tint and it came out great. The only problem is... on 95-97 models they have the mirror type tint so the fronts dont match perfect

That truck looks damn good thats all I know.

That truck looks damn good thats all I know

Which one?????!?!?!?

The correct answer is "all of them!" LOL

Well, I asked yet another window tinting business today about this topic, and got the same reply. Looks like mirror tinting is out of the question for those of us with the factory tint on our Explorers. :(

this is mine...i put limo in the front (forgot the name of the tint but it isn't the black kind..from the inside looking out it has a hint of blue and the outside is reflective like the factory tint. in the pic i have the limo strip which is black but i just replaced my windshield due to a rock hittin that sh.t and i just put 35% of the reflective tint on the whole windshield :D so my car is dark as fawk. anyways if you want me to find out which kind of tint i used i'll get the name..

btw my truck look a lil different..whole thing is dropped 3" and some other sh.t

man.. you forgot the other ) !!! lol hate it when that happens.

you did the whole windsheild? doesn't that make it hard to drive at night?

did the pic show up?...i thought it did but now its gone...well so far it hasn't been a problem at night...i don't think i'd go anything darker then 35 on the windshield....i've been living with the limo tint on the rest of the windows and its really hard to see out those at night.

I bet heh I know a guy with limo in a ranger.. I think hes crazy lol but hes like "man I dont like them people lookin at me" heh, whatever he wants.. I know where hes comin from to a degree.

Mine is tinted over the factory smoke tint. I wanted them to make it 5% total but they put 5% on over the 35% to make 1.75% in the back behind the front windows and 35% on the front. It doesn't look quite right in certian light with the back being sooo dark, so when I get the money/off my ass I'm gonna have it done down to 20% or 15% in the front. It's called the "ghetto tint-mobile" by my friends.

i went out a few nights ago and around midnight ...started to go throught this little canyon road that leads from a valley to pacific coast highway...no lights on the road and 1 lane each way...since all my windows are tinted i could hardly see not to mention the fog cover rolling through...i had to open my front windows and still my vision was a little dark just thought i'd let you know how it feels with all your windows tinted:( i don't regret it tho :D

Well, I finally got some tint to test this out. Mind you, this is the first time I've ever attempted to tint something. So, I did the little window that is beside the rear passenger window. I got the tint on there, steped back, no difference. :fire:

You definately could not see in because I was using 5% tint, but that DAMN MIRROR CRAP still stands. TIME FOR THE SLEDGE. :fire: :fire:
