OK I am stepping up to the plate. I am fresh to the south from Wisconsin and ready to hit the trails with the Explorer crew. I was over at Rick's place Monday and he filled me in on most of it.
I'm swamped with work for the weekend but as far as I know my truck, my crew and I are ready to go, I just want to follow somebody to the place so I don't get lost,

hehe, yah I wanted to ride w/ khris like 3wks ago, but he had some dude ridin shotgun already so I didn't want to weigh down the old 4.0 anymore. anyways, nuff said, thanks

This is looking verrrry interesting. You first timers will have a blast.

Is anyone else leaving OC mid-afternoon on Friday? Tim and I are caravaning out and wouldn't mind company, especially if there are any newcomers, I can show you where to go. We'll be leaving OC and heading out through Riverside. We can pick up anyone along the 91 or 15. Just let me know.

Sean, I'm trying to convince my friend to go in his 4runner. I am meeting up w khris on thursday and going out, but my friends will probly want to come out on friday. I will ask them when they want to leave and let them know you want to caravan then get back to you

Josh,

Your buddys 4Runner is plenty capable. It's got lockers and it'll get anyone out of trouble without too much drama...

$300?

What did you do?

haha Ken! I almost forgot about that. Thats a great picture! Ohh man, yah he's kinda debating whether to go or not due to other plans, but hopefully he will partake in the events.

I made an "Illegal Left"

I was on my way to work on the Monday after Thanksgiving - I was burned out from the long drive, holiday traffic, etc. The traffic light at the intersection I access the 91 East didn't trip when I rolled over the pressure plate. So, with a red arrow, I just cruised through the intersection. I didn't see the Highway Patrol cruiser directly behind me.

He coulda gotten me on a whole slew of things (the tinted windshield & no tags visible), but he was a nice guy - it helps when you drive a 4WD I guess...

That's not too bad. For $300 I was expecting more, but I guess tickets are just plain really expensive :)

maybe ill make it next year !!

Thaven is getting close.... What am I forgetting??? Anything???

rick...what cb channel are you guys going to be on when you are at t-haven. because I wont be getting there till late friday night (like 9 or 10pm) I wanna make sure I can get from the road to the camp without any problems. I've been to t-have once before and kinda know the entrance but I know with my luck I'll get twisted around at night and not find it.

Lets use Channel 21.

Most likely there won't be anyone listening to the radio when you come in, unless we're on a night run. I will have a few signs leading to camp.

For those who don't know, we have a white Dodge Ram with self contained slide in camper. I will have an orange "Serious Explorations" banner hanging from the camper.

A chair to sacrafice in the fire?

Everyone dont forget to bring firewood. we need a bunch of it with teh # of people that will be coming. And you can never have to big of a fire.

Matt

One day at least!

Hopefully we'll be able to make Sunday at least. Work is a bear right now, but if we leave early Sunday morning we should make it out for the day.
Rick

That would be great if you could get out there :D

Yeah yeah yeah, there's just too many options for that weekend. All my friends are going to Glamis but like Sean said, "You can go to Glamis any weekend". Then there's also the Laughlin race. That would definately be fun but something about Trophey Trucks, bars, and gambling sounds expensive so it's back to Thaven.

I'm bringing my dirt bike out and will have room on the trailer for wood so I'll bring as much as I can.

Josh, trust me, we'll beat the crap outta my ride so you'll have fun even without your own rig.

Sean, we gotta try to get over to Ocotillo Wells on Fri. or Sat. night. maybe run over in the dirt and come back on the road depending on how rough it is.

My left shoulder is still all messed up from the traffic collision I was in in November, so I might not be able to make it after all.

I am doing my best to get there because I have never missed the annual Truckhaven run and have the time off, but....its hard with only one good arm.

If I make it out, I might need a little help with setting up my tent and stuff, but the wheelin' should be okay if I take it easy. The main problem is that I can't bring my usual large quantity of firewood as I can't load it in my truck. Besides, I don't have any more at home since I used all my reserves at the ThanksGiving run and haven't been able to get more due to, the shoulder.

Oh, I am now working in our dispatch center answering 911 cell calls until I am fit for regular duty. The CHP gets all 911 cell calls in California. 90% are from some dumbass getting in his/her car, or a phone in the purse, etc..without the keypad locked so it automaticially dials 911 when a button is held down. PLEASE DISABLE THAT FUNCTION IN YOUR CELL PHONE!! Or, calls are also from someone who thinks 911 is the same is 411! Job security.
