ok ...knowing u-haul is a big pile of sh-t .....now picture this ,rent a trailer with another truck and tell them your hauling whatever to get it down the road .now ....bring it back useing a explorer.i wonder what kind of responce one would get from that setup !?

Before U-Haul baned Ford Explorers my wife made two cross country trips hauling a 5X8 U-haul trailer with no problems using out 92 2WD XLT. And that was the first time in her life she ever towed anything.

Ya gotta know by now...

Come on Donner Give me a break Brother HA HA !!!! This was the first time i rented a trailer since i bought my ex. If i didn't have my Explorer my sister would have just had to rent a bigger Buget Rental Truck. OH WELL more power to lister rental.

SkanLaxJMO- I like the duct tape & sharpie idea.... hmmm.... probably won't fly, tho. :)
So, i have an idea, the next time someone needs to rent a trailer from U-Haul, just tell them its a mounty and you were in a front end accident and you only could find an explorer front end from the junkyard.

No breaks! :) I buy things from UHaul regularly... smaller items. If they don't want us to rent the items, eh... (no biggie on the rental deal... but they will still do splicing and other things for the vehicle)

When we moved, I think we used [yellow truck] company. The car trailer came loose, and only the chains held it together... sparks everywhere (where the 138 and 5 split. There is no light down there...

It's now 2012, four years since the last post in this thread, and I can report that I was just turned down by Uhaul when I said that I wanted to use my 94 EBX to transport an empty car carrier a few miles to a motorhome for use behind the motorhome. They would however accept my using a borrowed Jeep Cherokee. They told me that it is a Corporate policy.

not being able to rent from uhaul sure puts a ding in the bling of the explorer. It is the only downfall of the vehicle period. Guess we all must look to a company that cares for our trailer needs.:salute:

Yet another reason i like my Navajo. I towed a U-Haul car Dolly last month : )

I have all the parts you guys need to turn your first Gen into 4 door Navajo's. I want to buy a Xploder just to do that.

A big factor in my deciding to purchase my EBX is the installed towing package, a Class III receiver for a two inch ball mount and large auxiliary transmission cooler. This with the 5800 lb towing capacity stated in the owner's manual had me thinking that I was getting some considerable versatile towing ability.

I was expecting to depend on Uhaul for some of my hauling needs. Other than their Corporate exclusion of the X, their product presentation online and prices is why I was planning on using them. Their price on the car carrier on which I was going to tow my EBX home behind the motorhome was great, i.e. $38 picked up on the west coast of FL and dropped off on the east coast. That's less than the cost of the gas to drive it on the same trip.
