Hi…anybody able to help?

1999 5.0: Stock valve covers were shot, so I put new (taller ones) on. I modified the plenum and oil fill location to make them work and deleted EGR thinking it wouldn’t be a problem…just an annoying engine light. Turns out, the computer wants the EGR and won’t run right without it. Problem is that I can’t find any other valve covers to throw money at that will work with the stock EGR plumbing (the current covers cause clearance issues). Pulling my hair out 😊. Any experience with this? Or any other creative ways around this? Thanks!!

You would have to modify an egr tube to clear your new valve cover
Or tune the pcm to delete the egr, around $500

Fabricate a new EGR tube.

I agree
You can probably cut a tube in half and extend it with new metal and some
Welding

We often have to fabricate egr tubes for projects, aftermarket headers do not always have the right fittings for factory tubes, so chop cut and weld is the way to go

The aftermarket sells egr tubes for your engine
You can cut one in half and mount the two half’s then see what is needed to clear the new valve cover

A simple mig welder can handle this job

You can see the aftermarket egr tubes do not have the accordion section which makes them way easier to work with
