I already got in contact with a ford rep
How many leak issues have you taken care of since this post started?
And how we're they solved through your personal contact?
Does anybody get where I'm coming from?
You can get in contact with a Ford Rep with your problem on your own.
My post are basically for the people that are affected with this problem.
Thanks for, your interest but I won't send any info because it seems useless to send anything and not get an answer other than statements that have been given since 2011!!

Frank/Wheels1950.....There are more polite ways to say thanks, but no thanks to someone who is trying to lend a hand. You may want to curb the attitude a little bit if you want people to offer help. Simply *****ing and complaining isn't going to get much sympathy. I'm certain you are frustrated, but no need to treat Cory with disrespect along the way....

Hugh

Just want to know what was done so far.
Knew I would get someone' s attention
I really don't need help to solve a problem just want to know what is or has been done thus far to solve this leaking problem
I've asked a few times now and haven't got a response from anyone yet
Questions need to be answered and I don
T think anyone has got ithem yet.
If you have them please feel free to respond.
I have no problem with anyone on here just need answers .
This is quite mild for me.
Respectfully
FRANK

I did a lot of checking after the heavy rains we had this past week and couldn't find any leaks, must have been something damp I placed in the back as I first thought.

I hope all of you with leaks get it sorted out in short order.

Hoping for ya

Zip,
Good luck with that
I thought mine was repaired awhile ago ,the test is take it for a ride usually it will leak after the drive
I have a weatherguard mat in mine and that's when I noticed that it was still leaking.
If you can't find it try placing some towels around the seatbelt area and keep an eye on it
Good luck

so its been raining here a lot over the last few days and i am happy to report that there is no water coming into my truck any longer! i am super excited!! :)

now, just have to rectify all the scratches all over my truck from what we assume were belt buckles. :(

About one year after our first leak we have another. Again a outside water specialist was needed to find and fix the leak which we were told was a seem that was missed at the factory at the roof panel near the hinge for the hatch. If it was missed at the factory then why did this spot just now start leaking ? I think there are bigger problems with welds cracking or coming loose. They used a black soft caulking material to patch this leak which is on the exterior of the vehicle where the original seem was welded with steel. This caulking I'm sure will not hold up to the elements and looks like crap. Our atty. has filed a Lemon Law case for this problem plus our Mytouch has been out about a dozen times, the hood paint needed to be stripped and redone due to blistering off, and other issues. I advise all to get a Attorney because these vehicles are going to be more trouble down the road. 1-800-Lemonlaw

Update

Please keep us advised about your truck
The first post on doing something about this problem!
I applaud you for your insistance on your problem with this truck
I can see where we all should be concerned !
I'm to pick up my problem today and it will be raining the next day or two.
I've had a loaner for 2 weeks now and after calling
( ford customer service)
at least 6 times in the last 2 days which they never got back To me ,finally was called by the dealer to tell me it's fixed was at the dealership last week and there it sat in the parking lot same place they put it a week earlier.
I hope they repaired it but not optimistic .
Will update in a few days .
How about all the others on this post what's the status on your truck
FRANK

I received my Ex a few days ago and the dealership claims to have solve the problem. This was the third time my ex was in for the same thing (water leak). I am a little more optimistic this time, since they had it taken to a specialist shop that drop the headliner. Why they never did this before, dealership stated they do not like to drop headliners. I would think because it cost to get a specialist to do it right. The specialist that did the work was able to determine where the water was coming in (once the headliner was removed). If anyone in this forum has not had their headliner remove, I would ask that you question the dealership why they have not done this (especially if it is in for the second/third visit for the same water leak). I can confirm that everything that was done before (1st & 2nd visits) on my vehicle was guessing. Again, I am optimistic that they finally resolved my water issue. We have rains coming and this will be the test. Also, the regional ford customer service never called me, as I was told in this forum would happen. It's just us against the dealership/ford demanding that they fix the problem the first time and stop guessing what it might be and demand more thoroughness by having them drop the headliner to really see where the water is seeping in. We need to demand a solution and not a bandage (like the black tar that was put on top of the roof that did not solve the issue and was removed because it did nothing and was nowhere near the leak that was apparent when they drop the headliner). Good luck to all ( and me)!

5 times a charm

Well went to pick up the ex today and to no surprise they had scratched the side of the truck, pried the plastic with a pick and broke one of the flat plastic panels from kneeling on it .also the rug was never reglued down
That's not all inside panels were scratched ,glue on the inside and outside of truck. Looks like they seam sealed the corners of the hatch again
They didn't even clean the truck after having it for 2 weeks for the 4th time .
I keep my sh&:mad:/ clean .
So my wife goes in to the dealership and what was the response she said there were scratches on the car and he says. NEW ONES. Which she replied we didn't have any in the first place
Are u listening. Hugh cares???
The customer service didn't do. D£\>}k
I guess she was to busy to return my phone call from last week.
Ford doesn't need a mouth piece they have enough of them already.
Actions speak louder than words.

Good luck with that. This has been going on for 3 models years now and the problem still exists with some Explorers.
Some have been able to get it to leak by running a hose over it for a while. Others have had to drive it to get water to enter. So far I have read that some have it come in around the area where the roof rails are attached while one or two others have had the leak supposedly around the moonroof.
As far as demanding that it be fixed right the first time is optimistic. It shouldn't require fixing at all if it was done correctly at the factory. Not sure why some leak and others don't when they all come of the same line?? :dunno:
As I've said before, I wonder how long it will be before a 2014 owner complains about the same issue?

This is 9 20 2011

Ott23,
I’m happy to help get the leak taken care of by sending an escalation to the Customer Service Manager in your region. For me to do this, send me a PM with your dealer information, VIN, approximate mileage, and contact info. I’m confident they will lend a hand to fix the problem once and for all.

Cory

And this 6. 12 2013
Does this sound familiar HUGH
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck Guess what!
Looks like there hasn't been anyone that can say that there problem was addressed just not sure about the next rain storm to change there mind.

Hi everyone,

Thank you to those of you who have already reached out to me or Cory with your information. If you are still experiencing this concern and would like a follow-up call from your regional customer service manager, shoot me a PM with your current mileage so I can make that happen.

If you haven't reached out to me before, send me your information in a PM so I can look into your case. I'll need your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name.

Crystal

What the hel,.

Just got back from the dealer and guess what ,they screwed up something else on the explorer.
The rug was not repaired ,
piece of material was ripped and cannot be fixed, between the rear headrests,
And the black door edge was broken on the front drivers door.
go figure.
This dealers sucks and there employees are not worth what ever they are lucky enough to get for a PAY.
Yea I said it
FORD better wake up there rating for repairs are at an all time low!
They have no problem giving me an explorer for 4weeks this last time and still can't get mine fixed in a timely manner
I would imagine if FORDS -CEO knew he would be pissed.
Still no service manager well I guess they don't need one .

If I were you Frank, I think I'd start looking for another dealer to take the Explorer to. The only problem that I see is that a new dealer may not want to repair under warranty what the other broke. I would still look for a new dealer and talk to their service manager before making a final decision. Tell them you are unsatisfied with the current one and are looking to take your business else where.

Thx

Peter , I will consider that . I think that even as we speak there will be a problem with the leaking issue .
I'm familiar with working on cars and can see that they didn't do what should be done : such as strip the headliner out of it and find out
were the leak would be.
It's not brain surgery I guess to them it is,
I haven't seen anything on this site to suggest that others with the same problem had it rectified,
Maybe they gave up!
Maybe they leased there explorers !
What ever I know that I will continue to pursue this until its fixed.
Or they give up and take it back!
How about the customer service people want to chime in on this???
No I won't send u my name rank and serial number.
I think u have enough of them already.

Hi Frank.

I'd definitely like to look into your situation in depth and see what can be done to address your concerns, both with the leak and your dealer interactions. I understand your frustration with how this process has gone thus far, but the only way I can help you is if you provide me with your information.

If you change your mind about getting assistance from us, feel free to send over a PM with your name, phone, VIN, mileage, and dealer info, and one of us (Cory, Crystal or I) will do everything we can to assist.

I have a 2011 with the leaking issue on the right side rolls down the rear seat belt only when it goes through a hard rain or a car wash. I brought to the dealership, which sends it out to a third party. First time was for a week, second time I brought pictures of the water coming down the rear seat belt, out the rear speaker this time it was for 8 days. They called said it was ready when I went the service lady had it washed and ready. I went over to the car opened the rear hatch put my hand on the rear seat belt and guess what it was wet. I went over to the service person to come see it for her self. I told her when she sent it through the car wash that is what made it leak. She went back to call the third party body shop she was then told that they would not take it back. I then ask what we were going to do she made a few calls and came back with they would put in there shop. I did not bring it back. Then the car received hail damage, which the insurance paid for but still had to be repaired. The shop I brought it to I have doing business with for a long time so I asked while you have the headliner out would you look for a leak he said no problem. Guest What He Found IT. One of the roof rail bolts did not have silicon on it. What a surprise after 15 day in the other shop he found it the first time he put the hose on it.

To make sure that you don't have a leak check the spare tire well. When I brought my car in for the hale damage (which had very strong rain with it) I was removing things from the car so nothing would be in their way. Was I surprised when I lifted the cover to the spare tire everything was wet. It was leaking and I did not know it.

Everything looks great and with no leak and my body shop did not charge me for all the extra work to find the leak. I would come out ahead by bringing to him first and paying for the work. Ford had the car for 15 day and no results.

Do you know if the first shop (dealer) even removed the headliner?
My guess is that they didn't. Glad to hear you managed to get it fixed.
