Im not looking to do something too outrageous. Basically what Im looking for is a double din CD/Nav/DVD player, probably pioneer, and what the costs would be for that kind of unit. Ive installed plenty of stereos so I might tackle it myself. What do you guys think...would it be worth it to get it installed by professionals?

Get it professionally installed. I paid 200 for my Avic Z-1 to get installed. They used the bypass made for the Alpine and it works beautifully. There are soo many extra wires and it involves playing with the tach and speedo and I would not reccomend playing with those. Paid 1,700.00 for the unit off of the internet.

id do it yourself. if you have basic knowledge and a little time and patience its really not too complicated. Plus theres more pride afterwards knowing that you did it yourself.

I like the radio that you are talking about but I just ordered the JVC AVX2 to put in my 93. It's cd, dvd and a monitor with outputs for more video plus it's a face off! Should check it out.

I'm cheap like this--but it sounds good enough for this old man--

sony HU--from member here 30 bux
sony 4channel amp 75
old mtx roachthumper 40--ebay
clarion 6.5 comps front, 6x9 2 ways rear, 150 bux
polk momo 10" in stock box 125--I think.

hey--it is better than stock, actually doesn't sound that bad---

I know how to install everything on a cd player and I have installed dvd players. Just never a navi unit. It scared me with all the new things involved. Plus I wanted the bypass done and I did not know how to do it...So I just paid to get it done. Plus the warranty is void if you do not have an audio shop install it.

As for the JVC unit. If it works for you, then it works for me. It is all about what you like and what you want in your ride. I have waited for years to be able to brag about something in my truck, and I will let you know quick. The unit I have is a beast. I have never seen anything soo cool and the functionality is awesome. I can navigate through its features easily and definitely not dissappointed.

im at around $15 000 CDN including buying used amps and used freshly reconed subs and doing all the install myself.

I guess it does add up after a while. I think this is getting out of hand.

I have a problem

yeah id say so !!!!!!!!

atleast its on that and not like crack or gambling

180 for HU
90 for door speakers (F)
200ish for subs i traded for the kicker
80 for 6X9's in the hatch
100 for sub amp
50 for 6X9 amp

so about 7-8 hundred......

Installed all of it myself, and it works fine. If you have confidence, go for it. If you get in over your head you can always pull it out and take it to the pro's

5,000 +

~$200 misc 1/0 wiring, connectors, fuses and RCA's.
$25 HU adapter/wiring adapter
$55 Spool Stinger 12g speaker
$18 Spool Stinger 14g speaker

Total $5198.

Not including alarm system, extras, and time/customization put into it. Not bad for having full navigation, touchscreen, CD/MP3/WMA/DVD playback, 6000 watts + and being a reliable setup that sounds great to me!

Only things left would be the PXA-H701 Processor/EQ/Dolby Digital, and possibly a center channel/amplifer, and lastly a few more monitors :)

I have a problem

I started going down the dbdrag route, constantly dumping more and more into it like you... but I had to cut myself off at some point.

I'm still thinking about where that point is. :p:
but seriously, I figured I'd never be able to dump enough $$$ and time into it to match the guys that have 8+ years of experience, one 8th place finish at world finals is good enough! I wish you all the luck though!

1) 1600watt Power Acoustic 2ch amp
3) DEI Pro Plus 12" subs
1) Bigass ported box

Stock mid's and high's
Stock head unit.

Bought it used from a friend for $450. I run the amp from the stock amp via an RCA converter. The stock amp sucks for higher frequency bass but the lower frequencies are pretty good. I'd like to replace the stock head unit and run a 4 channel amp to new Clarion mids and highs. Oh well. It's still load enough.

Under $800, self installed, hidden & sounds great to me & for my needs.

I think I have around 10,000 ball park.

You either work for stereo shop or got all that online. No way you got that at a local shop with those prices. Nice job!

When mine's done I'll have about $2,000 into the audio/video.
