No So Good News Guys!! Last Week Put $800 Into Brakes, Then Find My X Gone This Morning. Gated Community And Happened In A Time Span Of Less Than 20 Minutes. They Were Pro's Or Maybe Had A Key Somehow. No Evidence, Broken Glass Or Anything!! Phoenix Sucks A** By The Way, R X's Pretty Quick And Easy To Steal??? I'm Out!!

They are easy to break into. Even with an alarm I can get into one under 2 minutes from any window or the hatch.
Now for stealing it, it's not hard. About as hard as any other car of the same year range. You sure it wasn't towed or something? Gated community, & in 20 minutes? Something sounds fishy.

So I think we know who did it...!? :p

Sucks to hear man, I hope you are able to get it back in one piece.

I find it strange that anyone would even think about stealing a 93 explorer.

Where about did this happen?

when my brother in law's 94 pathy got stolen, they figured it was for the new tires and shiney (oem) rims. the burnt to the ground part they attributed to local vandals...

X Stolen

Living In Northeast Phoenix. Wife Is A Traveling Nurse, And The Apts We Are At Are Nice And Paid For By Her Company. Only Been Here 5 Months. Wife Leaves For Work An Hour Before I Leave Everyday. She Left This Morning And My X Was Parked Next To Her Escape. She Went Through The "out" Gate, Only Access Is Leaving The Lot, And Noticed A Nice Suv Waiting Outside On The Road And Entered While The Gate Was Still Open. No One Ever Comes Through That Gate That Way, Especially At 6 In The Morning. I Went To The Parking Lot Not Even 20 Minutes After She Did And A Half Hour Earlier Than Usual, And It Was Gone. I Think Someone Was Doing There Homework. Nothing Really Fancy About My X. American Racing Rims And Decent Stereo, Thats It!! 160,000 Miles On It. Just Can't Figure It Out!!! Only Had Liability On It Too!!! Going To Try And Go After The Apartment Complex For Insurance Reasons And Try To Get Something Out Of It.

Was the X paid for? Did someone have a lean against the title somehow? With it that age, I doubt it, but had to ask.

damn dirty apes

A stock '94 like most stock vehicles will be easy to steal. An alarm with starter kill provides some protection in terms of a deterrent. Yeah it isn't much, but I'd bet a thief would think twice about hitting an alarmed vehicle in front of an appt... (picking buck shot:shoot: out of your @$$ is not fun even for car thieves).

The problem with most alarms systems is that they come with a Valet switch. But in reality this switch is also an alarm system override, ie if you lose the remote you enter the vehicle (the alarm goes off), but you then turn the key to run (thieves would snapped the ignition) then toggle this switch and the alarm is completely off.. I have been in numerous vehicles which had alarms installed @ the dealer and After market.. In all cases they put the switch in an easily accessed location... My sister in-laws corolla had the switch under the steering wheel (drilled through the dash) If you have an alarm how easy would it be to find this in your vehicle?

Given you are in Phoenix area. I won't be surprised if your ride is now south of the border. A X with 160K is worth more to someone in Mexico.

Exactly why I didn't have the valet switch hooked up on any alarm I had installed.

Sorry to hear man. Best of luck.

My cheap ebay "Manix" remote starter with pager has an electronic valet mode controlled by the pager.

If the key is on the truck and running, and someone drives away and I still have the pager, I can stall the truck on them. :D

And my GT is a sticker. Thieves are dumb, and I doubt they'd be able to figure it out

Who did the brakes?

Did they see your stereo? Did you give them your address? Did they have the keys to your truck for some time?

I use a relatives address when I have work done at a shop or buy big ticket items like stereo equipment, etc.

I hate to agree with Brian B, but have you checked with the police yet? Have you called the towing CO responsible for your lot?
Is there video survailence on the gate?

Dam! I'm glad I'm not related to you! So the thieves come to your relatives house to steal stuff instead of yours!!! ;)

As 410 stated, who did your brake job, that seems to be a good place to start.

And yes the X's are popular in Mexico so thats not good seeing how your so close.
