ok now you are being contradicting... you said any car would give you little problems.. but you make it such a big deal "explorers suck, dont buy one" um no they dont... if properly maintained they kick but... anything for that matter..... my toyota pickup is 20 years old, and runs great, yeah i have had t odo a lot to it.. but i also beat the crap out of my truck.... it was not designed for what i put it through....

one day I hate mine the next day I love it...talk about your love hate relationships...lol

I had mine for a few years now and ive replaced the tranny and brakes. I cant complain about it at all. Like Jim said, take care of them and there awesome.

Wow, I thought when it came to repairing vehicles most of it was common sense... atleast thats how i've been fixing and modding my vehicles. It's a 12 year old vehicle, how many things do you keep for 12 years? Of course things are bound to break. Man if i whined about all the things wrong with my explorer I'd be cryin for a week..

I'm so ****, I actually get excited when something breaks down because I get to work on my rig. After fixing the torsion bar adjusters, replacing the sway bar endlinks and dynomatting the entire vehicle, I now find myself absolutely bored out of my mind because it is perfect (of course, now it is sinfully great to drive  ) Trust me, if you treat these vehicles with a little care and maintain them as you would any other vehicle, then they are incredibly dependable. It has never let me down and it is at 114K miles strong.
If you don't like your X, then why not sell it and get something else? To be honest, I'm graduating this year with a BS in biology/pre-dental and my X has been an incredible college car. :us:

Sounds like it's time to start modding. Once you start tinkering it's never finished. :)

I don't see anyone holding a gun to your head forcing you to stay... I'm pretty sure since it is so "unhelpful" you can show yourself to the door anytime you please....

Don't complain when a truck is over 10 years old and still going

Mine has needed maintenance too, but I wouldn't trade it (except for another one).

hey derickjeeter i have 220,000 reasons to buy an explorer original tranny and engine enough said!

The only mods I have now are TT/Shackle and 31's with stainless grill guard. I couldn't agree with you more (consider my arm twisted ;) )!!
:D :D

i know how this guy feels. i just finished college and am on my 5th vehicle in 5 years. they are a lot of work...i had an 82 transam as my 2nd car and i had to rebuild the engine, tranny, and a whole boatload of other things and it still ran like crap, but it did have the knight rider conversion on the exterior which was pretty sweet

I hear Land O' Lakes is having a huge cheese giveaway.

they bought it for 1,200 and you didn't think it would have problems or what? theres a reason people sell things for cheap, especially when theirs low miles. I bought mine with ~80,000 miles on it. Its a 92,000 with no problems (until i took it off road and got my stupid ass stuck in a mud puddle lol)

You said you aren't trashing the car, but "look for another truck dude explorers suck" seems to imply the complete opposite.

Anyway, no car is without problems, you just happened to get one that was either beat, or like the first guy said a 'bad egg' I drove my moms 97 or maybe 98 around for about 6 months, first car i really got to drive around so it took a bit of a beating, it was pretty nice, u-joints went out and a couple other small problems but it was approaching 100k miles and had previous owners. After that car i bought my 94 and ive had it 7 months, still going strong.

We should all go back to Horseback - at least when THAT dies we have food for a month!

It's against the law to eat horsemeat in CA. We would all starve to death out here. :(

I just keep driving my Explorer instead. :p

Im not complaining about anything or having a bad attitude, im a full time student trying to pay my way though college, i cant have a car letting me down constantly of course im gonna get upset.... but im not trashing the car, If i had 2,000 dollars to spend i bet i could get it to run like it was brand new again...... its been a good car overall just minor problems that endup costing big bucks as with everycar, im a maintainer at a state park so i know how to fix alot of **** just not a car... we all have our skills and mine isnt with cars

Your good at fixing alot of $h!t? I take it cars and English do not fall under the "$h!t" category? These guys/girls are alot of help, lose the attitude. If you are not happy with the vehicle that was GIVIN to you, then sale it, buy a nice pair of shoes ( that won't break down ) and walk everywhere. Thats my 2 cents. :D
