Makes sense. Thanks Gregg. Is that for a winch? Looks like a slot for the fairlead on the front?

Yes. Winch plate is on the L brackets. Rad skid plate behind it. Waiting on a Friend to purchase a new winch, and I will be getting his old Warn 9k to install.

I will turn that rad skid 180* when the other skid is attached to it, dropping down to the cross member. That will bring the curled lip to the front.

Phase 1 is done like I said earlier. Next phase is to get a skid to protect that junk

Open your eyes and read man! :p:

much more fun this way :p:

Went to the dealer to return some parts and while I was there, I asked the parts counter guy about the clutch pedal assembly. He quickly printed off a complete diagram for the assembly. Sure enough, there is a small little strange molded plastic retainer bushing/clip that holds the pedal to the slave rod. They even had it in stock! So I snagged it on the spot!

Ford Part# E69Z-7526-A

While searching for a pic of this bushing, I stumbled upon a pic of it in a kit with other bushings. Dorman Part# 14041

Ford for just the one bushing.....$7.89
Dorman in a 5pc kit with the rest of the pedal assembly bushings included.... $7.00

Here is the Dorman kit. The lower bushing with fingers on it is the one I got from Ford.

What a relief. That weird fingered bushing worked beautifully. :)

Snap it inside the slave rod mount hole. Then "Snap" it on the stud (finger end 1st) that's sticking off the side of the clutch pedal. There is a little ring groove that is on the stud. The fingers snap into that groove. Holds very tight.

Since I was already messing around with the rig, I decided to keep at it. The drivers side camber was off. Must have been from the last time wheeling. The rear side of the control arm had moved. I reset it back to where it needed to be.

So after that the 35's went back on. :D

The 3" shifter extension was a lost cause for my shifter. I don't know if their all like mine, or mine is different, but there was just way too much slack in it. I removed it. Then I had to bend the shifter back some. Out came the torch, heated it, bent it, cooled it, replaced it.

Well, the hand throttle won't work with this set up. Gets in the way when shifting. I have a pretty wild idea of where to put it, but it's going to take me some time hunting down some proper materials for it to work.

Jon,
Is that pic a friendly reminder that I am supposed to be getting ready for CCR?

That trip was the driving force behind the mods of this rig to begin with. :D

It could be, that's a good thought.

I was looking through pictures and just decided to throw it in here.

Messed around getting the new hand throttle location done. Since it wouldn't work on the lowered shifter handle anymore, it needed a new home.

Took the original shifter I had, cut off the knob/handle, and slid a plastic hose and steel bushing on the end for a snug mount of the Shimano 8 speed rapid fire shifter.

Ran the cable & housing over the column, behind the kick panel, thru a new 1/4" hole (used a grommet) drilled directly under the hood release cable on the firewall, and to the chain & ball attached to the cruise cable end.

I messed around pulling the throttle cable back so much, doing adjustments on the cable length, I flooded the sum biotch and it wont start right now....LOL

Happy 4th of July everybody!! :salute:

10 out of 10 for using a push bike part mate. You win this week's MacGuyver award:p::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

From one MacGuyver to another, I'm putting my paper clips and pocket lint at your feet and bow before you as your humble servant. That is THE coolest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm actually quite jealous that I didn't think of it. Kudos to you, sir!

Thanks a bunch for the kind words. :)

We all use a bike lever/cable of some sort for a hand throttle, but mounting it like this just came to me out of necessity. I wasn't even on the turdlet when I thought of this idea :D

We have throttle cables on our diesel trucks at work that we use to idle up the trucks for PTO functions. You pull and turn to lock them on. I have played with modifying one of these but they're not very easy to control. I never thought of that, I guess here on the east coast we're not that resourceful. Again my hat's off, that is sweet.

The rapid fire Shifters lock in place automatically for each time you tap it. This one will click 8 times and each click gives 500 rpm's. Click one direction to raise rpm's, and the other direction to lower rpm's. There are 3, & 5 speed versions as well, also left handed versions too. These are getting harder to find tho, the new versions have the brake levers integrated along with the shifters. Amazon still has them as I just looked. :)

Getting closer to having the rear bumper made. :D

Picked up all the parts for the latching swinging tire carrier today. Will be getting the materials for the bumper shortly.

Added bonus to doing this is the frame will be sleeved & boxed with a new stronger cross member added. WOOT!

Sweet mate, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I'm gonna have to look at rear tyre carrier/bumper when I get the oversize boots on in the future. I'm in maintenance mode at the moment, tranny flush, coolant flush, power steering flush, brake fluid flush and new plug's. AAArrrggghhh. Now if only I was flush with coin!:D

Yuppers, doing the scheduled maintenance is enough to stay busy with these things, but then add on the repairs, and then the mods, it never seems to end!

I have a nice planned out bumper for this rig, and hopefully it all goes well. Funny thing about plans is, we all know they are subject to change! LOL!

Oh, and if Lynchy or I ever hit the lottery, were both gonna have some bad ass rigs to wheel across this blue Orb we habitat. :D
