Hi folk, Looking for a little help tracking down a coolant leak on my 1998 ford explorer 4.0L. The coolant system seems straight forward on the car but just can't track it down. It seems that the leak is coming from somewhere in the area of the starter maybe just above the drivers side engine...- Efebert

I had my 2003 v8 explorer with 114,000 miles on it in for an oil change and found a leak in the coolant system and they pinned it down to damage to the intake manifold (I did see it, it looked like the groove for the gasket to thermostat was broken). My 98 4L SOHC has been losing coolant for several months. Is it possible that coolant could be leaking from the lower air intake? Do the lower air intakes manifolds tend to crack with age, miles and heat? Thanks, TChalm- tchalm
