we both might be swearing over our installs this weekend. Great news!

Mine wont be going in this weekend even if i do get it back:( i still need to port match my inlet flange and weld both flanges to the manifold pipe.im also dead broke for next two weeks sense i spent money on the OBW install.i still need to order two gauges,75amp relay(fan) and some piping.i got four weeks left till it has to be done for our trip to the mountains

Just talked to the people over at cardone, the ones that reman my ecm.they said basically its a bone stock ecm with no changes or updates.they just fix what was wrong with it and paint it black.said the OE sticker should be on it just under the paint, witch ive all ready found that out.so back on track;) i ordered a cast aluminium 90*elbow instead of having to cut and weld a 90*.its super tight radius and should flow better than a cut and weld 90*,also saves me time;) i also ordered all new pipes that are 3.25" so now i have about $80 worth of 3" pipe im not using, thinking about making a nice short ram intake out of it and selling it to someone.i had to forget about running the filter to the glove box for now.i went to cut it out and the is a hidden race of wires above the air vent tubes that i just abouy cut.there is NO WAY to move or relocate them without pulling the dash.i need to get to trimming my firewall and finish polishing my lower mount so when the charger shows up i can get straight to work on the intake manifold tube and flanges:(also i think i may have a bad fpr or leak in my fuel rail.i turned on my pump and as soon as it stop pumping the pressure when straight down all most in secs:( or may just have air bubbles or something in there

That 4 digit alphanumeric code (T2Z1) is what is needed by your tuner if they are tuning your truck with SCT (or Diablo). That is what code will be plugged into SCT Advantage tuning software to pull up a stock version of your tune in the database. From there your tuner can build a custom tune based upon your modifications and burn it onto an SCT Eliminator chip that you can stick into the rear J3 dataport that your PCM has. Just make sure to clean the contacts on the PCM real well with a scotch-brite pad so that the contacts are clean and shiny so they conduct well.

C&L said his software doesnt support my ecm code.he said he is emailing sct and diablo(think thats how you spell it) he is just trying to tune the maf to the ecm maf table but cant find the stock parameters of the fuel or maf tables.im not doing the sct chip right now till after it was running and i can drive it to the tune shop.is there anywhere i can find what he is looking for or do you happen to have or know anyone that has the info he is looking for ecm "T2Z1"? This is a major problem and even more reason i think ill be doing a OBD2 swap instead of the sct chip but i need this truck running in 3weeks!!

You are wasting your time and money having the C&L MAF recalibrated to the OEM MAF specs but whatever. I have warned about this before but people don't see to want to listen. Good luck with things man.

Again we have been thro this.there is no other options for me without going to obd2 or having the vehicle at the tune shop.correct? I need this truck to run with out towing it somewhere and dropping a grand at a tune shop right now

I have mentioned before that if you are in contact with a good tuner that they can write you a tune to burn onto a chip that you can install on the rear dataport of your PCM that will get you to their location. Part throttle driving, and the way the fueling operates with it, is completely different than wide open throttle driving and the way the fueling works for that. When you drive your truck to the dyno shop you will be part throttle (closed loop fueling) which will reference your pre-cat narrowband O2 sensors for fueling data (aka not using the MAF signal at that time). So you are literally spending money to have something reprogrammed to get you to the dyno that will essentially not be utilized for the entire trip to the dyno besides the first 30-60 seconds after a cold startup when the PCM commands open loop fueling until the O2 sensors have warmed up.

The issue is that you guys ask those of us who have considerably more knowledge on this stuff to provide tech advice and then you wonder why we get annoyed when you ignore said advice. Why even bother taking the time to write detailed posts trying to help you guys if you don't even follow the advice provided, know what I mean? This same thing has happened with you before in this very same thread. I will not bother posting anymore advice in this thread because I feel I am wasting my time by doing so. You can go ahead and do things the way you want to do them. You will probably even get your truck running too eventually. Hopefully you won't kill your engine by not running it on a properly recalibrated tune. I can pretty much guarantee that you will end up needlessly spending more money and wasting more time and effort than if you had just listened to those of us who know our stuff; let alone the fact of powertrain safety and longevity coming into issue while running untuned (MAF sensor recalibration doesn't change all that needs to be changed) too. Good luck with the project.

The closed loop thing has never been explained to me.with that said then yes that makes complete sense.if it doesnt use the maf during normal driving then why do i even need a base tune to get there?will it just run off the O2 even tho i have larger injectors?or is that what the base tune needs to have atleast to get me there?this also leaves me to the point of noone will write me a base tune to get to a shop, this is originally the problem and why i went with a c&l because they said they could tune it to run to get to a shop that would be able to tune a sct chip.i have also called all my tune shops and they all say they dont have the software to tune a sct chip for a Explorer witch is why i said i want to go to OBD2 now. you see why this is soooo frustrating to me?

ok this will make you happy:D i called the shop that told me they didnt have the software 3months ago,but said they was moving and expanding there tuning portion soon.well he now has it and is very willing and excited to tune it:D:D we went over ALOT of stuff, most helpfully guy ever.he was last time also but we talked for about an hour this time.he agrees totally with you and basically said they same thing you did and so do i now i know i can get a base tune and dont even need to mess with that c&l stuff.the guys over at c&l are very helpful but just cant do what really needs to be done.

so i am now selling my c&l 76mm unit with the tube and electronics on ebay and have bought a 90mm lighting maf.im going with the sct 4 bank chip and dtp is going to give me a base tune and tune the whole truck for $350:D he said more fees would be discussed in person about doing two tunes;)im going to have him do a 3.2 pulley tune thats real safe and a 2.7 tune.we went on to talk about different options as far as data logging also,he said for the 2.7 it would be highly suggested to do some sort of DL.he started throwing out ways and names of things to DL and lost me at that point.as of now its scheduled to go in june 11.he said he would need it for a couple days as this is the first 4.0 with this ecm code, did a ranger last month but had the x2x2 ecm and a turbo.

hopefully i still can get this done in time for my trip but can tell you one thing, my pops aint happy about me borrowing a grand to make this trip now:eek:now to find the cheapest place to get a sct 4bank chip from,so far ive found it for $269 shipped

Well did alittle more work today and am out of stuff to do now. I put the stock crank pulley back on,mounted my relay and finished wiring my fan.i do still need a 75 amp circuit breaker so still havent tested it yet.i finished polishing my lower mount and need to find a 3/8 tap.also i did have a bad fpr.i would turn key on truck off and the psi would fall off in a sec.replaced it and have had pressure still for hours;)

well got all the pieces to the puzzle now except the damn charger back.i am not happy about that at all:mad:they told me last fri,if not then by monday.he has now had it for over three weeks and he told me it would take 3-5days plus shipping.shipping took one day:mad:ive wasted a 3 day weekend that i was planning on trimming the firewall and final mock up of the pipes to be welded.i made an appointment for june 11 to have the truck tuned so hopefully i can get it all done in the next two weeks.so i havent done anything sc related this weekend and decided to weld me up a front hitch.going to start a new thread for that.any rate here is some pics of the last bit of goodies
intake manifold(still need final mock up before weld and port match the sc plate)

now if this damn charger will ever get here,i can wrap this up :frustrate:frustrate:frustrate

JD I know the process is never as fast as you want it. But just hang in there, before you know it you will be driving the beast. Thinking damn what do I now do with my spare time? (Answer: probably end up replacing all the other stock parts that fail.) By the way what are you doing for heatsoak? I have been trying to find someone to make me a hood but it seems no one does make hoods for these.

(Pg17&24pics)Im running a intercooler and the unit has been ported and polished.just from p+p its said to run 38* cooler.i have a 3" body lift,no need for hood cleance.this is also a gm 3800 m90 not a ford thunderbird m90.ic options are greater ;)

Yup. That blows. Lets just hope they did a good job, and it's all worth it.
If its been shipped out, there's nothing you can do now.

Calling Fed-Ex and trying to change the shipping to air will probably be a disaster. I've tried that sort of thing, and it usually resulted in the package taking even longer.

Any time you have to depend on someone else, anything can happen.
