With patience, you'll rewire that 302 in there and be a lot more happy with it. Better transmissions available, and a lot more potential for further power gains, more reliable, basically the same fuel economy as the V6, but like they say, there's no replacement for displacement. :D

Put in a 400 or a 427, Tight fit but you'll have the fastest Explorer ever. Not to mention you could loose all the emissions crap and just run a carb and straight pipes.

91-95 mustang 5.0L conversion = 16 wires to your truck to keep everything working 9even cruise control and ac if u wish

Uh....nah i think KBX would still have me but that would be cool but in IL emissions for 95 and older vehicles is done with so i can run straight pipes regardless.

Guess i'll go with a 5.0 swap then.

You're lucky... here in Ontario the emissions is 87 and older for it not to be tested

That's one good thing about Kansas-
We have no emissions testing at all--
No safety inspections--ever--

The 5.0 is the only choice here-good pick.

I have a 5.0 half clip sitting in my storage building waiting to go in my '93. Once my tranny goes out i'll do the whole swap i guess. The only problem is my '93 has almost 300,000 on it's motor and tranny and not a single problem so it may take a while.

Is there a tech article on this somewhere. I'm thinking of grabbing a 91 4.0 4X4 that needs work, but the price is cheap. I'm a Mustang guy and I've got a 91 5.0 with GT40 heads on the stand right now.
