Bumper falls on foot.. OUCH!

I was mounting the center section of my winch bumper Saturday, and it accidently fell from the frame rails to the floor about 2 feet. Well in between the floor and the bumper was my foot and of course it got in the way or became a landing pad for it.. I called the doctor this morning hoping I could get seen today. I didn't bother going to the hospital cause of my previous first responder experience of being a VFD member, I knew I would be a walking wounded priority 3 patient and not to mention it didn't seem too bad at the time.. Well of course they were booked up but they said they would try to get me in today.. Time has passed and they called me and they said I could be seen tomorrow afternoon, too bad work gets in the way so I have to wait till Wednesday to get it x-rayed and evaluated.

Now for the image of my foot.. Its a little blury but you can plainly see where the bruising is.. Note to self, wear steel toe boots when working on the truck from now on especially when lifting heavy items..

If your toes are broken, there isnt much that could be done. I broke my smallest toe a few months ago, and it hurt for over a month! Unless your foot bones are broken, they probably can't do much for you.

You shouldn't build such heavy bumpers!

I wish you the best on your toes, I know how it feels!

PS Steel toe boots are great, thats all I wear.

I know that's painful I did a similar thing about month and half ago I was delivering a bumper to customer and went to pick up the box and it rip and landed on my foot and I was wearing boots too. the boots did'nt help much
still painfull as hell tho. Good luck on the recovery Hopefully it heal quick

LOL.. There are angle steel mounts in the bumper which are bolted to 4" plate which is bolted to 2.5" square tubing welded to the frames.. I unbolted the bumper at the mounts on the bumper.. I thought to myself, "if I unbolt it, it shouldn't drop all the way down right away cause its C-channel.." Well not right away of course.. as soon as I unbolted it, it fell to the top of C-channel and stood there for a second or so and then it fell completely to the floor.. For that second, life stood still, I had the sense or lack of to know this was gonna hurt.. I actually said "this is gonna hurt" to myself and sure enough it did. I think I scared the neighborhood kids with my choice words.. If the air compressor wasn't running I'm sure my words would have been louder and more defined..

OUCH. I broke my big toe a couple weaks ago dropping a leaf spring from chris kids FSB on it and thought that was nasty. wow thats bruised

Nope I was wearing tennis shoes. I normally wear them when working but from now on, if I'm building something out of steel, the steel toe boots are coming out.

ouch that looks like it hurts man. I reinjured my left knee last thursday i damaged some ligaments in my left knee.

I already have 2 f'd up knees already but now i have a knee imbolizer on my left knee and i am on crutches as well.

Fractured.. No need for a soft or hard cast or splint.. Though I am wrapping it up at night..

So out of instinct you kicked your foot out so you cell phone would not hit the floor and break but instead you kicked it across the service bay and into a bucket of used coolant! No wait that was me.

That sux! the bumper is made of steel it wont get hurt from a small fall like that no need to try to save it with the foot.
