Might not move enough air for the newer motor.I haven't had a problem, but the last week or two has been very hot 100+ down here too and in trafic it will keep me at about 180* but no lower.I know it was brought up at the beginning but don't know if I was ever looked into, about swapping motors out and using the two speed motor in a hhr shroud.I also got the feeling that it "might" run a little hot 4x4ing in 100+ weather.
Just wanted to update this...imho the vertical install was no good i slapped one on my x yesterday.
As the pic shows I used the zip tie things made for it and that's all holding it up(doesnt need more)
Let me know what yall think! It fit like it was made for the radiator width wise....

Btw this is the fan from jd4242.....thanks again man!
Took me maybe a hour total to install... I think my thermostat is sticking but it went to 230 then 220 and within five seconds drop to 190...
If you look close you can see my next writeup down on the frame though its awfully muddy from this past weekend
Maybe a half inch above the fan and the dirtiest six inches or so below it open...
My oe trans cooler is not in use now(Will become oil cooler) so the bottom of the fan is as low as I could get the things in the radiator;trans cooler makes any lower impossible without taking it all apart.... it holds a piece of paper to the grill or hole in bumper....
For now the controller is a extra I had laying around, believe its the $18.99 one...
Will post more pics soon

I have been told that those zip-ties will chafe the radiator over time, causing it to leak. I have never used them for that reason, but have not witnessed a failure from them first hand, either. I would be careful about using them, though; there is a reason they never come like that from the factory.

Yeah I know what you mean... There are foam pieces installed with them to minimise vibrations...my trans cooler is attached this way and that's how hayden says to do it and even includes them in the kit as the way to install...thanks to jd and his trimming it fit right in mine...
I've used them a few times before with no issues... I thought about fabricating a bracket but its pretty Damn secure and sits on sides of radiator...
