colindo94 fullwidth swap

yea i will do that, but it will be a couple days because I need the balljoint tool inorder to mount the steering knuckles back on. Any idea on how to set the camber to the right angle?

I just found out ill be going home tomorrow (at college) so dont worry about the measurment. As for the allignment i dont remember, i believe the cam bushings i used were 0 degree. But im curius to see what others say also.

since you are getting a new carrier AND a lunchbox locker, why dont you just get a full carrier locker? i think it would come out to be about the same price, and it would be alot stronger.

not really. you can pick up carriers for 50-75 bucks new. or cheaper at a JY. My lunchbox was only 250 so total would still be about half of a detroit. and in my case, my rear dana44 came stock with 4.10s. it should have the carrier for the numerically higher gears. i am putting a spool in the rear and hoping i can use that carrier in the front axle which came with 3.73s or something.

im no rocket scientist but isnt the camber always already(non adjustable ) on a solid axle?

Yes and no. There is a little sleeve thingy inside the upper balljoint hole that guides the balljoint. The hole in this guide is centered. However, you can get some with offset holes that can be used to adjust camber and caster. :)

is it like a cam bolt type deal on like an ifs?

Yea I have the offset camber sleeve. It just threads into the upperballjoint hole and the ball joint goes through that. Its offset so there is a bit of adjustment. SO you say I can get a centered one and not have to deal with a camber adjustment? And I went with the lunch box in the front because it will ratched when I turn on sharp turns on the trail, but be locked when I need it. I've had good luck with these lockrights. An ARB would be nice but way to much $$$$. Anyways I got the front end all torn off, but now I have to go to work so ill get pics on tommorrow.

A lunchbox locker will work fine and is a great locker if your not planning on running anything bigger then 33's. I had a quick locker, took my Explorer to Moab and it took a crap. It couldnt handle pressure of the spool in the rear and the bigger tires. It would always release any time i would go up a steep cliff. Thing that sucks is it took my hubs with it.

Yea I have heard that many times from other types of lunchbox lockers. I've heard good things about lockrites and Never had problems with the ones i've had.
So what would be the best way to lift the rear. I have a spring over and custom shackles that equal the height of the warrior shackles. I was thinking about an add a leaf, but am worried it will ruin my rear articulation. I don't want blocks. I was thinking of the zimmerman mod with the top part of a ranger leaf. What do you guys think? And what would toy suggest the hieght should mount the coil buckets on the frame. I just want to get some ideas before I start playing around with it this week.
Another question is shocks. I want the bilstien 5100's. think I could fit 14" shocks? and what valving would be apropriate for my truck. I want firm, but not too stiff.

for coil buckets, if you are using the wild horse 5.5" EB springs, i believe there was a discussion in Burns' SAS thread, and most people measured their coils at about 17" compressed at ride height, if that helps give you an idea of where you want to place the buckets. burns i believe was at 16 due to his heavy bumper and winch.

curious about the rear as well. I think most people just do a soa with the extended shackles. Or do a custom leaf pack with the f150 leaf springs for a little extra height without losing flex.

i have never had a problem with my aal. i will be putting them back in soon. i figure the stop the leaf from going negative, and i like how they ride.

which one did you use and did it add any lift?

they are the pro comps. i hear people say get full length ones, but i have never seen them so im not sure if they are or not. lol. got them hear but don't remember who i got them from.

i got my pro comps from summitracing for like 30-35$ shipped. easyyyy to install, you just need a new center bolt. the one supplied looks like it is meant for an erector set.

edit: on my spring under setup, it added .5-1", i didn't have a noticeably stiffer ride either. And like lifeguard, i have the ones that go on the bottom of the pack, and not the full length ones that go under the main leaf.

update on the Cage radius arm frame brackets

I just talked to him (JIm) again today, the new frame brackets are expected to be back from powercoating next week. You can see what the brackets look like on page 60 of the June issue of 4wheel & offroad

Thank you for the update. I'm pretty set on these radius arms so keep me posted please.

So I dropped my axles off at the gear installer. I will start preping the truck for the swap tomorrow.

Can I weld the new spring perches on at the same angle as the old spring perches or will I have to change this angle?
