Man I wish I could afford a supercharger setup, that's a ways away, but maybe work towards it on the side!

Okay, question, comparing the explorer and ranger guards. I only want the guard for this top bit, I'm going to mod it to mount to the steel bumper I got a while back instead of the bull bar. So I want to see if the build is the same of not, I'd guess the mounts are a lil' different but that doesn't matter since it'll be cut just a few inches below the bottom bar above the bumper, like shown here. Explorer ones with the bolt on headlight guards like this are pretty much only sold on chrome now, and I'm hoping to find in black, so if a ranger one works, I got more options. If anyone knows offhand

Not sure on differences, but that being said I was going to make a stronger version of one of those for my bumper. Make it out of 1.5" pipe. Just need to bend th epipe and break the welder out. IMO many of the brush guards are good, but can easily be done better by DIY!

Heavy gauge steel is the way to go, it'll survive a deer strike.

And finally, she's in the driveway! Family sold one of the other trucks, made room, and now it's time for work! Dang was she a pain to move from sitting for 2 years, then up a steeper driveway was fun. But time to start making progress!
Aww yeah, man! Now we get back into the flow!

Gears... I've said this elsewhere, now it's your turn.

To calculate the difference in fuel economy, use this formula:

( Old Tire Diameter / Old Gear Ratio ) / ( New Tire Diameter / New Gear Ratio ) - 1

In my case, this was

( 30 / 4.10 ) / ( 33 / 5.125 ) - 1 = 0.136

This represents a roughly 14% increase in fuel consumption, ignoring drivetrain friction, traction difference, and rotation mass, and therefore an equivalent deviation in speedometer accuracy. In practice my fuel economy decreased by around 15-20% (I don't feather the throttle, the loud pedal is fun).

Plug your numbers into the formula to figure out what you could expect running taller tires on shorter gears.

I built a skid & some bump parts for our other truck out of 3/8 steel... that one will last!

See, I'd love to do that, if I was good with a welder yet! Plus I got a basic old bending tool from my grandfather, two of 'em, and neither so I think can do anything that big offhand, never done anything with it so I'm not sure lmao

@DintDobbs I'd love to gear change, and I will eventually, but the first one to get a gear change would probably be the rado for a 4.56 or 4.88. A few of yall are right, the 3.73 may not be the happiest with the 32s, but it does the job still pretty well, and I've always got low gear if needed!! Also on a note, the couple of lil' bits I'm doing for power should help some I hope too!
I do appreciate that equation though!!

I dont have super lots of experiecne with brush guards but I seen a decent amount simply fold under pressure. If no weld how are you planning on attatching it to the bumper?

Was gonna make it mount bolt in like the bull bar does. Or if I had, weld it on, but having it all removable seems like a nice idea in case I ever need to get behind it for work, that way the whole bumper doesn't have to come off every time I mess with the grille or what's behind it

Anyone know where to find a bug guard like this one? Only finding the longer round ones, but this edge is what I'm after

I have one that looks like it on my current white 98 Limited. One end is broken off, but I think it's the same.

Also, beauty got a partial wash today, just enough to get most of the green off and dad gum do I miss it. Also took the small battery I was using on the mazda and tossed it in just to mess around, gotta figure out a lot of the wiring, especially the visor cause the sockets and wiring up there sucks. But brakes are done and looking good! Weird seeing silver behind those black wheels! But also, forgot how good I modded the sound system, played music for a minute and I can't wait to get the sub working cause everything's gonna seriously boom! Man I miss the rig, terrified of pulling and repairing the engine if I'm honest, but dad gum am I ready!
