Matt's '92/'99 4X4 V8/4R70W swap!

Oh spas, by any chance do you have the maf sensor??

I would pay you for that.

I have to dig around through the giant pile of parts to see if I have the other stuff, but I KNOW I still have the maf. You can have it- it's a fair trade for the tailstock in my eyes :) I'll try to find it tonight, if not then definitely by the end of the weekend.

No I mean the project loan I took out to start up.

I'll take some close looks at stuff this weekend bit I just doesnt seem the stocker is long enough.

Cause the stock pump is below the ac but the 5.0 is the other way around.

I know you know this and I hope your right.

I'll have to take some measurements.

just don't want to be caught wthout the right one.

route it different :) I went round and round trying to solve this, do I need a custom hose? will a junk yard hose work from another 5.0L Ford? eventually I just re-routed the stock 93 hose ( I had to buy a new one, I fubared my old one trying to make it work) and it worked 100%, pic of hose routing:

good god man you took a loan out to do this? I would have told you NO if I was your dad, lol

but hey I understand! better then buying new right? My dad STILL tells me "you could have a cadillac escalade for all teh $$$ you put into that stupid bronco" and my reply is "yes but no escalade can do hells gate in Moab!" Ill be 36 in 12 days :)

Just 2 grand to get started. And to help build credit. You see I don't have any credit cards cause I don't like spending money I don't have any collateral for.

And my dad couldn't have stopped me. :)

He built the hell out of a nova around my age and wrapped it around a light pole within a month or two. So I just bring up that story.

Lindsy you rock! :) just tell me how much for shipping.

good for you! building credit is a good idea, I dont use mine, but I still keep it in good order when possible

FYI I spent about $6000 best I can figure, including $1400 for the drivetrain, $550 for the AA adapter, $600 for the Ron Davis, and $800 for the trans rebuild, $350 for exhaust, etc

WORTH EVERY PENNY!!

You are saving money big time doing the trans rebuild yourself, I saved money by getting free TM headers! LOL of course I went back and bought some for my 96 truck :)

Mister lucky with the headers! :P

your stock power steering hose should work? I ended up using one from a 93 explorer

You are still making PAYMENTS? LOL dont let them get ahold of this thread!!

I just told my wife if she lets me drag home this 98 5.0L truck I found I we will have a V8 Sport Trac, she said you cant put a V8 in it until we pay it off! I am like LOL oh yeah I forgot, always jumping the gun!!! so I may drag it home anyway LOL

You have it bad, which is good.

frikin girl scout cookies get me every time.

Sent my remaining stuff off to JT.

And the machinist still has my crank.

Okay the date has been set. i have schedualed vacation for May 6th-may 12th.

Barring unforseen sircumstances the swap will take place during that seven day period. That should give me three more paychecks to put back. (minus the price of a 1911. ;) )

And ive checked the tempurature records for the last few years and they indicate it should stay around low 70's to mid 80's which will be comfortable enough.

I have the same exact swap going on as well (except i started with a 4X4 trans)!! What can you tell me about the pcm wiring swap know any good threads? basically need to know what stays and what goes, any ideas?

Matt...

So you're saying I have until about May 12 to complete my swap, to beat you?

I dunno about that....

Ryan

Well your taking on a much bigger project than me.

This way if I run into any problems youl now ahead of time!

I still haven't torn into the wiring yet but soon. Once I do I'll post some stuff.

Sounds good I'll do the same. I just noticed your in Tulsa, we get these monsters running well have to meet up at disney sometime!

Ok but where is Disney?

Ahhh ok on grand lake.

That's a new one on me. Didn't know about that.

My truck isn't built for off road but I'd love to meet you there and go wheelin in yours!

My next project will be a trail rig.

Matt...

An Explorer with a 5.0L/4R70W & BW4406 IS built for off roading...

Throw somw 31's on it, and wheel it.

Ryan

I suppose I should say I don't want to off road it. It's still my only driver and I don't want to break anything.

I do have about a 3"/2" lift and 31" nittos. But I haven't done any reinforcing yet. No longer brake lines. No manual hubs.

And I don't want to mess up the paint any more than it is.

Well my subscription renewed yesterday. So I've been an elite explorer for a year, doesn't seem like that long.

Ordered oil pump, hardened driveshaft, timing set, new head dowels, and the canton adapter that summit has on backorder.

Well see if they get it out soon.
