I'd like to join all of you on a run or two but my Explorer is sitting with a bad transmission and I'll be deep into a SAS on my Bronco to have it ready for a Memorial Day trip to the Maze, plus my birthday is that weekend. So I hope all of you have a great time while you're visiting my home, please stay on the trail & clean up after yourselves so it will still be here for the future.

Come out and join us anyway and ride along with someone. It will be hard to miss 50 explorers and rangers in moab at one time so Im sure you will be able to find us. Just flag someone down and get the details to join us.

Unrelated,

Are we still doing a big dinner somewhere saturday night? If so I vote for night run on friday night.

Yes, Saturday night is the group dinner and raffle at the Branding Iron. Don't want to miss that ;)

Nice

Hey Rick, I'm sure it's on a post like 23 pages back, but how much do I owe you for the plaques again? $5 a piece, or.... anyway, I just want to budget it between all the beer $$ ;) :D

Kevin, sorry to hear you cannot make it. I was hoping to run with you again. Hopefully some other time....

John, sorry to hear that gas might budget you out of the trip. From SC, I'm looking at somewhere around a thousand dollars to do this, and that will probably blow me out of being able to afford doing Attica, so I know how you feel :( I've not been to Attica yet and really want to try to make it there. But if I'm forced to pick between what big run to attend, Moab will have to be it for me.

I'm looking at $900 in fuel costs too.. To fill the superduty tank from empty, it's currently about $115.

Starting to get out of control. Could be time to downsize, and rethink the whole thing..

Gas prices are still going up though...atleast in washington. has any other state seen a price increase of 2cents over the weekend?

once I get around to installing my tow hooks... I think i'll pull my explorer around with my bicycle...

It seems like its still jumping 2+ cents multiple times a day here. I try not to look anymore.

Yeah, we've been over this already. :p Its not nessesarily as cheap as that map shows, as Reg in utah is 85 rather than 87 octane.

any reason not to use the 85? reduced power/mileage?

I log the F250's fuel consumption, and the price of diesel jumped 25cents in the past 2 weeks as of Saturday, and it's probably up another 10 cents since then.

good news... according to this map gas is cheap(er) in utah!

Yeah, but we already went over this........you need the mid grade gas in Maob just to get 87 octane.

I really don't want to hear any whining about the cost of gas, my RV holds 75 gallons of the stuff, and only gets about 9 miles per gallon. :fire:

Yes, Dash Plaques will be $5 and available at the group dinner on Saturday.

Well, besides gas, I have new reasons to drop out.
My rack and pinion housing is cracked. The slip yoke splines on my aluminum driveshaft are starting to twist. I don't know how long they will last.
I had wanted to get new torsion bars installed too.
Plus this last weekend it ran so bad I had trouble getting up simple hills. :(

Too many issues, too little time, and as always too little money.

Have a good trip guys. Maybe I will see you in 07.

Not only that but prices in Moab tend to be about 10-20 cents higher per grade then the rest of Utah(at least thats been the case the 4 times I've diven through

But you have to remember as you go higher in elevation your octane requirements decrease due to the thinner air. Hence their cheap stuff being 85 octane with an elevation of 4025' in Moab. And at sea level where the air is denser you need the 89. If you get up there in evelvation like at the great divide they are selling somewhere around 82 octane at about 6600'.

Come down to TJ & fill up ;) the gas down here is $2.20/Gal.

You can't believe how many big SUV's and Campers are crossing the border just to get gas... & to think, Pemex has a monopoly on gas here in Mexico. We've got competition in the U.S. & are still getting raped
