OK, here we go again all you guys and girls coming from Midwest.......... Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa and others that want to join us. As promised I decided to play "Clark W. Grizwold" on this leg of our trip to Moab Utah . I came up with a bold figure of aproximately 1340 miles to Silver Sage from my house. (30 miles west of Chicago). We need to stop somewhere for the night so I decided to give it a try and find something like in the middle. I picked the western most city in Nebraska which is Ogallala. I found an Econo Lodge motel there for merely $37.00 per night and they do have rooms available.
If we leave Thursday morning as planned, we can swollow those 780 miles to the motel in about 13 hours including all the rest and fill-up stops. Then the next day all we have left is 560 miles to Moab. I figured this way since Nebraska is gonna be pretty flat, we can cruise at at least 70 mph all the way thru. (posted speed limit in NE is 75 mph). Next day we'll have to slow down because of the mountains. Mind you Scott is gonna be towing a trailer with two trucks on it. If we leave Ogallala in the morning (10:00 AM) then we can be expected in Moab at around 8:00 PM at the latest.
I could pick something further down but as soon as you hit Colorado motel room prices almost double ($60.00 per night in Sterling, CO). Read on, check it out,,,,,,,,, let me know what you think.
Later,
