It's me again....

I just got an email back from the KOA. They have an area that can be used for a potluck. Just no open fires though. It's got the tables and grills that we can use though. It sounds like the best place since several people are staying there. What do you think??? If we agree on it....somebody that's staying there should call them up and request to hold the area for us on sunday night. Let me know if you need any help or have any suggestions.

Alot of people will be leaving Sunday. 15 to be exact. I would suggest having it on Sat Night. As far as I know no one is due to arrive on sunday and no one leaves on Sat.

Just a thought.

that's a good point since I plan on leaving on Sunday as well.

Saturday then?

Saturday we've got a dinner already planned. :)

I'm not too sure if you were talking about the potluck or the nightrun??

I'm thinking of the night run

I'm lost now, shall I go back and check schedule again? man, I thought about the run too......

That will make for a long day.....but it could be done. I'm out though. I'll be driving all Friday night-Saturday morning and will be tired as heck. Many people are planning on being up by 5 and on runs all day....could turn into a grumpy run....

OK, here we go again all you guys and girls coming from Midwest.......... Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa and others that want to join us. As promised I decided to play "Clark W. Grizwold" on this leg of our trip to Moab Utah . I came up with a bold figure of aproximately 1340 miles to Silver Sage from my house. (30 miles west of Chicago). We need to stop somewhere for the night so I decided to give it a try and find something like in the middle. I picked the western most city in Nebraska which is Ogallala. I found an Econo Lodge motel there for merely $37.00 per night and they do have rooms available.

If we leave Thursday morning as planned, we can swollow those 780 miles to the motel in about 13 hours including all the rest and fill-up stops. Then the next day all we have left is 560 miles to Moab. I figured this way since Nebraska is gonna be pretty flat, we can cruise at at least 70 mph all the way thru. (posted speed limit in NE is 75 mph). Next day we'll have to slow down because of the mountains. Mind you Scott is gonna be towing a trailer with two trucks on it. If we leave Ogallala in the morning (10:00 AM) then we can be expected in Moab at around 8:00 PM at the latest.

I could pick something further down but as soon as you hit Colorado motel room prices almost double ($60.00 per night in Sterling, CO). Read on, check it out,,,,,,,,, let me know what you think.

Later,

If I were you I would drive straight thru to denver on thursday. If you left at 5am from Carpentersville you would arrive in Denver at 9pm including gas stops.

Then leave on friday for Moab at 7am and youd be in at 12:30 in the afternoon. Just in time to get set up at camp/hotel and have a trail ride before dinner.

Any members in CO want to host weary members on their journey to Moab?

I'm leaving on wed so I can't. Fn'bob? Anyone?

We are heading out Weds. afternoon if all goes well, if not it will be early Thursday morning for us and my folks.

Holly COW!!!

I just found out that I could do this run.
There are 24 pages of stuff on this run.....
Could someone please post an update on what has been decided so the new guy can make some plans.

My eyes were bleeding and I only read 2 pages.

Help!!!

Hammer

Who is planning on driving through Albuquerque I'll be leaving on wed. I'll be driving alone so if any one wants to meet up I'm game. Let me kow Robbie J BARJ44@aol.com

I'm sorry Hammer, we limited the participation to 50 vehicles for two primary reasons; availability of trail leaders and once we go over 50 the BLM will hit us with substantial fees for group land usage. We will probably bite the bullet next year and open it up with no limit and have to charge for participation to cover the fees, but this year we're still going to stay under the fifty vehicle mark.

The whole story is buried in this thread but I know it would be a pain to find it.

OK well, we could do that but if we leave later then we'll face driving at night. I don't want to push it. I don't have to get there for Friday trail rides since I'll have enough driving for at least that day. I want to start fresh Saturday morning..... just me,,,,,,,,,,, others??

I'll need to check with the better half, but we'll be leaving Friday morning for Moab if that fits anyones schedule. So if anyone coming through on Thursday wants to camp out overnight, let me know...I'm saying this with a fair amount of hesitantcy. I really don't know anyone outside of the Denver metro area......

andre...if yer rollin with us, we are leaving IL wednesday morning, to get to moab thrusday evening, so we will be there in time for the Friday runs. were you planning on that too?
