Well
I did finally get a woman on phone please click link from ford fuel injection website

http://www.massairsystems.com/products1.htm

I am now very upset :splat:

In the picture, they show a maf on upper right ( exactly like mine) and a maftuner box at bottom (also exactly like mine)

Notice--the box clearly reads Pro-M MAFtuner

the support I recieve is none

they will take your money though, and support you with an answer as follows

" our stuff is totally different than the old stuff, we are not pro-m, but we bought some of the old stuff, we can't help it if the pictures are wrong, our knobs are metal ( bs-it is still a plastic pot) we are professional mass air systems DBA pro-m ( actually the other way around I bet)

they will give me no answer at all, or even sell me a part.

I am now calling them out, in this public forum, and if it comes to it, I have all the phone bills showing the number of calls I made, and saved the e-mails, to finally get to this one answered call.

Oh another thing to note--at exactly 1:30 this afternoon is when I spoke with her, she is leaving a note with tech, for when he comes in in the morning-----????

tried and true already tuned MAF? ditch the Pro M?

I definitely plan this
I just need to make it thru Christmas--lots of gifts to buy.

Man, I don't think I could justify selling this crap--even on ebay.
I just wouldn't feel right.

Hey if they weren't an hour and a half away now I'd go hit them up for you. Pro-M used to be a 1/2 drive from my house.

you have so many damn gadgets on your truck one of them is bound to have a screwy knob here and there.

I saw your eyes get all big during that remote mount turbo thread too, I know what your thinking :)

Yeah you do, you too huh?

I want to thank you again for the loan of the tool. I had been suspecting this was the problem, the scantool lets you actually see it happen.

When that knob flakes--the maf flow reference jumps to 7.8-8.2 grams per second at idle speed, no wonder it was surging:eek:

I think I may have a temporary work around if my want it now on ebay doesn't come thru------
I will enter a new value into that band-thru laptop, burn it into maf tuner, and set the range on first knob to a higher ratio. This will allow me to use a different area of that trim pot's rotation, in effect using the good spot.

Dammm if I had the money it would all be in the trash.

well i got a response

I have talked to our person in the electronics department. He said it is a common part and that you can purchase at radio shack or any electronics place.

Subject: Please help!! Part for my Maf tuner!!!

Hello
My maf tuner has developed a bad spot in the first trimmer pot. I would like a new one, as I could easily repair this, if I just had the potentiometer. Any way to get one?
I did not damage it, used nothing but my thumbnail to turn, it just is flaked out right where it needs to be, as pots usually do.

Thanks
Jon Smith

I took this next step, asked for a part number or manufacterer,

He says you can read it on the side of the broke one.

so can you?
If I was them I would have grabbed one from in the back and dropped it in the mail to your house already.

You'd think----^^^^^
I even offered to pay them for one.
as for the numbers-manufacturer--I know the 502 means 5k,
the only other characters are 331dc 502
234M MEXICO

I have scoured radio shack, placed a want it now on ebay, contacted several e-bayers, and
I have scoured several electronics parts websites.

The part is out there, they didn't just run them off for this,

OK
I just have to rant on this
My wife said this was a cool truck, if it didn't surge. This is important to me, because I want her to be able to drive it with confidence. She really wants to also.
Sooo, this has been plaguing me since I did the whole change, and she blames me for it. I knew it was in the maf-maf tuner somewhere. I suspected that knob early in this thread. Actually, back in June is when I first went hmmmm when I saw the jump in a/f guage-----
Anyway, now that I have a scantool, and can actually see it happen, along with the resulting fuel trim adjustment, I am excited to say the least.
I have the knob adjusted (for now), and proudly, I can say the surging hasn't occured, and I haven't had to reset the PCM for T/C lockup failure for at least 2 weeks.

It just isn't right, and I know it---they at PMAS know it also

That is what I have to say about that

welcome to tuner challenge

My $500 radiator started leaking after a few months
Ron Davis built the unit, I went with them because they have a great rep.
I got quotes from $400-850
I mounted the unit just like they told me to
it pulled apart internally
Warranty covers manu defects
BUT Ron Davis will only make me another radiator if I pay the $500 again + shipping, then I send them this one, they take it apart and then decide if they will honor the warranty

Does that sound logical to you? think I will go back to Ron Davis for another radiator? Nope.....

You make me feel the same way about these fools, a little tiny bit of customer service could have gone so far......my V8 conversion thread has been viewed like 29,000 times, you figure many of those people are doing/considering a conversion and they are gonna need a custom radiator....

You nailed it ^^^^^^
I hope I can get 1 percent of the views.
If they would just give me a part, I could fix this, and still think it is a good device to get yourself close, or even just learn a few things,,,,

oh
It just hit me!!

If it had worked, i wouldn't have had to learn squat!!!

So is it a good thing, or bad?

I am trying real hard to be positive guys

5k pots sre commonly used in the hobby trade for rc vehicles ;)

Check with your local hobby shop. Mine had a few sizes when I was building my RC crawler, and later rebuilding a stampede.

I have no local anything ( unless you want pizza hut)

Could you look next time you are in there?
It needs to be vertical, leads on bottom, with shaft going out front ( to reach outside the case. I would be grateful.

410, did you pay with a credit card? If so initiate a charge back. The credit card company contacts them and that usally changes their mind. I've had to do this a few times. If the refuse to budge, the cc company will ask for a copy of the warranty and it should be no problem getting your money back.

If you paid cash it would take a trip to small claims which stinks :(
