So since I am a fashion ***** I want to get rid of the crystal clear corners and headlights I just got a couple months back for my 96 Sploder......I love them, but now since they have the black ones out I want to swtch to those.

My question is, it seems to me since there are no refelctors in these lights anymore they must be converted to projector/HID in order to work?
They appear to come ready to fit the standard H type bulb in.
Does the black chrome reflect light?

or is that chrome actually chrome?

I assume the other version available with an all flat black interior finish, no reflector is projector conversion only?

They are listed as being "DOT stamped"

Thoughts?

I think they will look killer

Those are pretty cool:thumbsup: You should buy them and give me your old ones, I'll PM you my address.:p:

get in line, the girl in front of you is alot cuter I am guessing hahahaha (my best friends wife has a 97 Limited SOHC with some very yellow OEM lights)

Now you are not helping here, my online ordering fngers are getting itchy, I will likely get some tails at the same time :)

I thought you were talking about my wife for a second there, I was gonna say she got rid of hers so why would she care.

On another note though I wish they made these for the S60, they would be bad a$$ in there!

they are making then for all sorts of tuner cars of course, I know they have been out for a while for the 01+ Sports and Sport Trac

Hopefully somebody will have tried these, me likey

maybe I will be guinnea pig

you have a link to the site that has them?

I got the black headlights and I already cut them up so I can do my HID retrofit in them. Got them off ebay...

Creatve

This is likely the route I will go
I am guessing the flat black babies will not throw any light unless you convert them

Do you have pictures or a thread I missed?

Let me ask a question. Why would they make them for 2nd gen Explorers which aren't HID if when used with the current bulbs they wouldn't throw the right amount of light?

those look sweet!

that is the reason I made this thread :)
For off road use only (show car?)

To make money silly! :D

The first set you posted up has the chrome reflector for the headlight, so I'd assume that part would work just as the diamond clears, the turn/running lights may be dimmed a slight bit though.

The second set as you said would probably be worse than stock for light output. And I dont see how you wouldn't blind other drivers either... unless they accounted for the non-reflectivity of the black... I would use those for retrofit only IMO.

JTSMITH I am pretty sure I saw diamond clears for your Mounty
No black ones yet :)

If I was to do a retrofit I would want to use a small projector so it fits inside the housing a bit better then some of the ones I have seen done on the explorers on this forum. Is this a good way of thinking?
I know some factory cars have wicked tiny projectors and plenty of light
Time to start looking into HID retro fit kits :)

yeah, the black isnt a reflective type of paint therefore if u were planning to just stick halogens in them, it wouldnt really project much light. The first set of black headlights u posted looks to be more halogen friendly.

sorry I dont have any pictures of my progress, still fitting the hids in the headlight housing and getting the wiring all set.

The smaller ones are small because they are zenons, no high beams. The larger ones are bi-zenons which gives you low and high beams through a shutter.

To make a retrofit out of them I wud think they are fine...if u are running stock halogens well I dunno if black housing wud be all that good
