There will be a piece of angle welded to the swingout arm to catch/hold the end of the fuel can swingout - very similar to the existing one.

The swingout is just about complete. I still need to add the stop/lock (keep it open) mechanism and the latch to hold it closed. And, I have a little more grinding to do.

Here's what you can do with some extra tent poles, Sunbrella fabric, and a sewing machine (no, not me...)

The awning attaches to either side or the rear of the roof rack, is 7 feet wide and 10 feet long.

I also move the refrigerator into the truck. It is running off the 2nd battery.

Interior Upgrade

A minor upgrade to the interior - I changed the console cupholder to a newer style. I like the one in my '06, so I swapped it out.

Here you can see the original and the "upgrade"...

Fuel Can Swingout Built

I finished the swingout.

Here you can see it with the fuel cans and latch.

I have added a lock-open mechanism, but that is not in the pictures.

Currently, the swingout is at the powder coat shop. I'll post a picture when I get it back showing the lock-open.

Rear Springs

I replaced the rear leaf springs with custom built ones from Deaver Suspension.

These springs are built for the new weight of the truck, the V8, the inverted shackles. The leaf pack has 12 leaves plus a snail wrap on the front part of each pack.

While I was changing springs, I replaced the rear spring hangers, the shackles, all fasteners, painted the frame rails and I installed a Lokar emergency brake cable set.

Here, you can see the spring packs, the 5/8" u-bolts and urethane spring bushings, and the new hangers, shackles (with Energy Suspension urethane bushings) and grade 8 hardware.

Great job with everything!!! Very clean work, functional and well planned. I like your truck alot. I used to own a 1994 and 2001 ranger. If they had a full second row of seats (crew cab) I'd still have one....

Something is just off with those 4 door Rangers from other Countries. Too much hassle as well, may as well look at Sport Tracs if a guy really needs the box. Funny thing is, now that I have the Explorer I havn't found too many times that I needed a box for my lifestyle.

Air Conditioning

Now that I am back from Desert Expedition III, I can post what I did for the A/C.

The longer engine necessitated moving the radiator forward, to the location of the factory condenser. This meant the condenser had to go in front of the core support - right where the transmission cooler sits. So, the trans cooler has to move forward, also.

The factory condenser did not want to fit on the front side of the core support, so I picked up a generic condenser from Vintage Air. I also bought a generic dryer and a fitting/hose kit. There really was no way to use any stock pieces. Fortunately, Vintage also makes an adapter that mounts to the factory compressor.
