I beg to differ on that. If I am going to an event with my 7 yr old son and someone has issues about there gun and they are in the group, I have a right to be concerned. And since you are planning on attending the run this is the thread for it. There may be others who are concerned as well but not as vocal about it as myself.

I understand both sides here. You both have warranted concerns. It is both your rights as a CCW, and a parent. A middle ground needs to be met here.

Your both intelligent adults, I am sure something can be agreed upon before this gets blown out of proportion.

Scotty, I can assure you from spending many a night at Smorr, you don't have to worry about needing a handgun on the premise.

Chad, This park is so geared to a family environment it's not funny. The staff have children who play and wander the entrance/playground to the park, and watch all the children like a hawk. They take great pride in ensuring the safety of everyone attending. You should feel assured that you have many sets of eyes looking out for the well being of your child.

Sorry Pete, the unwrapped gift stands. This is a family event. This insures no adult themed unwanted gifts are donated. Practical jokes are funny, but can be detrimental to others not on the same page as the "Gift-er".

Your question wasn't whether there were going to be loaded guns in the park, which has been addressed above. Your question was directed at me. The Federal Government and the State of Missouri, through reciprocity with Arkansas, have deemed me capable of possessing a loaded concealed handgun and have issued me a license to do so. If you are unhappy with that, you need to take that up with the Missouri Legislation. As to why I want that license, that is none of your business.

Wow, in my opinion guns can stay home as well or dont talk about it or let others no. keep it to yourself. Yes its your right to carry, but passing a test still doesnt show responsibility and if going offroading at this park you have no need for it, not like your hunting , sheep or something

Superswamper 98, as long as its dry, with good tires 33s? air down, and locker you can go along ways, but that said make sure u have good tow points up front, still level 1 & 2 onlys but it would be a good time and there is usually extra seats to ride along.

You're right, I despise drama queens and I'm no longer looking forward to this trip. I won't be attending.

I asked a simple question and got an answer that was fine with me. All I wanted to know is if it was ok to bring it locked up and unloaded as opposed to leaving it at the hotel were it's at risk of being stolen. I didn't realize that it was such a dramatic request.

1st post updated with latest attendees information.

Lets keep on track, get more members going, plan our camping arrangements, plan our potluck dinner, decide on the grab bag gifting, Talk about who is coming when, staying where, etc....

I will start off,
Thursday night we will be having a dinner and ****tails downtown Springfield.
Springfield Brewing company is a very nice place to eat and relax in a Bavarian themed micro-brewery. Anyone coming early is welcome to join, and I look forward to you having a great time with us as well. Afterward, we can head out to the Chicago style dueling piano bar, this is a blast.
